As of this writing only seven days remain on the preorder cycle for HasLab Unicron, the potentially largest official Transformers figure ever made - if it does get made. Hasbro seems to think it will get made, as trademark trackers Transformers @The Moon report that Hasbro filed for a trademark on the Unicron name in regards to toys this past Wednesday.
It seems odd to wait until this late in the process to be seeking your trademark... but it strikes us as possible that Hasbro was waiting to be as certain as possible that Unicron would actually happen before paying whatever fees were necessary to secure the trademark on the name. It doesn't seem unreasonable to think that Hasbro has a good grasp of the as-yet-officially-uncounted international preorder numbers, so is it possible that Unicron is a good bit closer to its goal than the 2,234 we can see? Or possibly even at the goal? We don't know, but if you're on the fence about Unicron and can swing the mighty pricetag, it's a good time to preorder!
