TakaraTomy Legends Series Resumes In Full This September With LG44, LG45, LG46
ExVee - Tuesday, April 04, 2017

On Facebook, Loopaza has shared a screen image said to list September's Legends Series releases. Seemingly thanks to the push of movie product, Legends have been extremely light so far this year. It looks like things will finally be cycling up starting in September, beginning with two figures that many fans have been eager to see the TakaraTomy take on. In addition to three Legends releases, three of the Movie The Best figures will be shipping again: MB-01 Optimus, MB-03 Megatron, and MB-07 Soundwave. Meanwhile, click through to find out about the new Legends!

LG44 is listed as "Sharktron & Sweeps" which is easily interpreted as the Gnaw mold apparently packed with a (likely redecoed) Scourge Titan Master. LG45 and LG46 carry a more interesting note, though...

45 is Hot Rod, of course called Hot Rodimus as expected for the Japanese instance of the character. 46 is Kup, though listed by the Japanese name チャー which has no concrete romanization so we'll skip that. That's not the interesting thing though. Both toys are listed with the prefix "Targetmaster", which we're pretty sure has not been applied to any of the Titans Return molds used in Legends so far. Right now we have no idea what this might indicate. The listed price is ¥2600 each, which would demonstrate they won't be packed with a Titan Master vehicle accessory which otherwise could have acted in a Targetmaster capacity. There are a few options in existing molds for Targetmaster partner figures that could be added in: The double Targetmasters that Generations Scoop had, Universe Nightstick, the perennial favorite for quite a while. Even Power Core Combiner Mini-Cons could be pressed in to service again, assuming this is more than just a branding choice.

With these set for September, we could see first signs of these in hobby magazines in as little as a month or so, which might start to answer some of the questions. Of course regardless of the accessory question, one important consideration remains: Will TakaraTomy satisfy the hopes of fans and deliver more cartoon-inspired decos for Hot Rod and Kup? All these answers and more(?) hopefully coming soon!
