TakaraTomy Power of the Primes Line Begins In May 2018 - Listings & Prices Revealed
RAC - Friday, December 01, 2017

Singapore fangroup Planet Iacon broke the news - and site sponsor BigBadToyStore has just confirmed - that TakaraTomy's version of Power of the Primes begins in May! Titled very similarly as Power of Prime, the figures listed are being released in a format seemingly identical to their US releases. But, what's interesting is what's not listed from Wave 1. Keep reading for details!
PP-01 Micronus, 800 Yen
PP-02 Liege Maximo, 800 Yen
PP-03 Vector Prime, 800 Yen
PP-04 Dinobot Slash, 1500 Yen
PP-05 Wind Charger, 1500 Yen
PP-06 Beach comber, 1500 Yen
PP-07 Autobot Jazz, 2800 Yen
PP-08 Rodimus Prime, 7000 Yen
PP-09 Optimus Prime, 7000 Yen

Compared to the Legends series, these prices are pretty low. As the smaller figures have usually included extras, the easiest point of comparison is a Leader like LG50 Sixshot, who runs a full $15 more on BBTS than the Double Convoy do here. There's a chance, much as we hate to say it, that these could be straight-up Japanese-packaging releases of US toys. The naming conventions being largely identical to the US versions with their trademark considerations - "Autobot Jazz", "Dinobot Slash," would point to this as well.

What's not here is encouraging, though. The Voyagers, and 75% of the Deluxes are not mentioned. That opens a door for a Unite Warriors-style Dinobots boxset that could gain some paint, and also perhaps Dreadwind's being paired with Blackwing/Darkwing as their Japanese counterparts Buster and Hydra. Even if most of PP is just US repacks, interesting times are ahead!

TakaraTomy has released via their official Transformers PR Twitter account a set of photos showing off the small sheet of optional stickers that will be packed in with the upcoming LG63 G2 Megatron. The sheet leans in to the roots of the deco, including a MEGATRON RULES sticker for the chest emulating a major piece of the Hero Megatron toy's factory applied stickering, as well as the option of a G2 Decepticon symbol, or Predacon logos, speculated to indicate that the Legends pack-in comics may be assigning the identity of Predacon Megatron to this toy's Headmaster. We've mirrored the photos, and you can find them below.
Fresh off the forums, chuckdawg1999 has brought us a video review for the just-released legends series Slugslinger from TakaraTomy. LG55 features the Targetmaster Caliburst and sports a modified deco from the earlier Hasbro release. Chuck shows off both the Titans Return and Legends versions side by side to highlight the points of difference between them, though outside the choice of dedicated weapon versus Targetmaster, the only real changes come down to colors. You can watch the review right now, embedded just below in the full post.
Today we're catching up to November's Transformers Legends releases in order to clear the way for the just-released December assortment. Our newest gallery is LG51 Targetmaster Doublecross, which is in fact just a clever(?) way of producing Haywire for the purpose of making your pre-existing Legends-series Blurr complete. Alas, poor Scourge saw no such consideration. But Doublecross has more to offer than just Targetmaster delivery - seen side by side with the Hasbro version, it offers a distinct deco that may suit some better than Twinferno. And of course it has the fully painted White Leo Beastformer (Battlebeast) Headmaster! We've got 200 high quality photos for you, click here to view the gallery!
Just in time for the December Legends releases to be shipping out from Japan and making their way to import retailers around the world, we have a new piece of gallery coverage for the November batch! Today we're bringing you a gallery for LG52 Misfire, featuring the brand new Aimless Targetmaster partner figure and a slightly tweaked deco versus the Hasbro release, photographic coverage of which you can find right here. For Legends Misfire, we have almost 200 new detailed photos for you to check out - and as always be sure to click the "Original Image" link above any photo to view it at full size. Site sponsor Robotkingdom has posted in-package images of the December TakaraTomy Legends Series releases: LG54 Bumblebee with Exo-Suit Spike, LG55 Targetmaster Slugslinger, LG56 Perceptor and Ramhorn, and LG57 Octane with Headmaster Ghost Starscream! Also present are images of a reissue of MP-10B Black Convoy. Keep reading to see the images!
