THE FINAL FIVE: Unicron Update Includes Backer Jump, Bonus Parts, And Redesigned Hands

War For Cybertron Unicron has just about five days left to reach its backer requirement in order to proceed to production. This morning the project got a substantial boost, jumping a full thousand backers to nearly 6,800. The sudden boost should be the result of including at least some of the international orders received during the extension period. As Unicron has struggled literally for weeks to break out of the high 5,000s, this is a much-needed move forward.

Additionally, Hasbro Pulse on Instagram shared out photos of the prototype build for newly redesigned hands for Unicron, featuring much more articulation than the previous versions - a full 15 points per hand.

And in keeping with the pre-extension pattern, Hasbro is doling out the new incentives for alarmingly close to the end of the order period, by revealing some extra accessories for Unicron on the HasLab page. Joining the Galvatron mini-figurine is a matching Hot Rod, plus a small representation of one of the Autobot shuttles used to evacuate Autobot City in the movie. Otherwise known as the starship Not The Ship Used To Confront Unicron. Finally, a stand has been designed to allow Unicron's disembodied head to seem to float, as well as being able to accommodate the other small accessories. These additions are apparently extremely late stage, with their visual representations consisting only of basic renders. Apparently they didn't have time to 3D print both the hands and a tiny Hot Rod.

After a much longer campaign period than anyone expected to go through, and with only barely more than 24 hours remaining, it appears that Unicron has made it. As of 10:20pm Eastern Time, War For Cybertron Unicron has surpassed its minimum backer requirement of 8,000 to begin production.
