The Toys That Made Us - Details On Transformers Episode, Season 3 Subject Reveal Date

Anthony Brucale, creator of TFU.INFO and a contributor to the Transformers episode of The Toys That Made Us, has interviewed TTTMU creator Brian Volk-Weiss for his TFU News and Views podcast! Anthony and Brian talk about the series as a whole as well as the specifics of the Transformers episode from the recently-released Season 2! Most notably, the original cut of the episode was double the running time of the final cut (if not more!) and featured an 8-9 minute segment on Beast Wars. Also, Volk-Weiss gave the time and place to learn about the specifics of season 3. Keep reading for more details and a link to the full show!

Volk-Weiss was happy with the reaction to season 2, which featured more positive responses and fewer negatives than the first season. Now that a third season has been greenlit, the opening song (inspired by the super-descriptive theme songs of shows like Transformers and GI Joe will be changed to call out a "continuing series" as opposed to an "eight-episode series." He's working towards a DVD/Blu-Ray release and hopes to put all of the footage and research material for the series on the set if it comes to pass.

The original cut of the Transformers episode ran 90-100 minutes and featured an extended Beast Wars segment. It also had more of an emphasis on Takara. Volk-Weiss uses his wife, who is not into nerdy pursuits, as a sounding board to find the proper balance between the depths of what will interest enthusiasts and what will help catch a general audience's attention. It's because of this, and the fact that she knows who Optimus Prime and Peter Cullen are, that Cullen alone was interviewed and not Frank Welker.

Season 3's subjects are due to be announced at the The Toys That Made Us panel at SDCC on Thursday, July 19th at 4PM EST. Just a few short hours after the Hasbro panel!
