With the projected November 2016 release window narrowing steadily, it was only a matter of time before the next wave of Titans Return began filtering through the distribution channels. Now, we're beginning to see reports on social media that those who've preordered with site sponsor BigBadToyStore are beginning to be charged for their Deluxe purchases - a sure sign that the time is almost upon us. Who's in the wave and what do we know about them? Click through to the full article for the details!
Autobot Hot Rod is the first all-new rendition of G1 Hot Rod since 2006, who was the first all-new rendition of Hot Rod since 1986. He's partnered with Firedrive, a Titan Master based on Targetmaster Hot Rod's Nebulan parner Firebolt. As before, he becomes a sleek sportscar with a futuristic bent and a large yellow spoiler.
Autobot Breakaway is a recolor of Wave 2 Deluxe Chromedome, one of the best Titans Return Deluxe figures so far. He's been fitted with a new Titan Master - one that accounts for the head design used on Chromedome's package art. He is based on G1 Powermaster Getaway, and his Titan Master Throttler is thus based on the G1 Nebulan partner Rev. As a remold of Chromedome, Breakaway becomes a very boxy car that looked fairly futuristic in the 1980s.
The sole Decepticon in the wave, Triggerhappy is a new mold depicting the 1987 Targetmaster of the same name, who once again becomes a starfighter. His Titan Master Blowpipe has also retained his original name!
Twinferno is based on the G1 Monsterbot Doublecross, who transforms into a two-headed dragon. Not having had a Nebulan partner in his G1 life, Twinferno (a name about to be used in Robots In Disguise as well) has been given a (sort-of) all-new character, Daburu to serve as his Titan Master. "Daburu" is the phonetic Japanese spelling for both "Double" and "W," and in robot mode the Titan Master is based on the Beastformer character White Leo from Transformers: The Headmasters, perhaps better known here in the US as the Battle Beast Pirate Lion.
TFormers will be reviewing these figures, so check back for photos and more info as they become available!
We asked for the moon and got a space station.
translation: we got up there, but nowhere close and settled for less than what we wanted.
