Titans Return Deluxe Wave 4 - What's In The Case?
Quake? Krok? ...Wasn't Topspin from the movies? Who are these guys? To get everybody ready for the coverage of Deluxe wave 4, RAC put together a handy catch up article giving brief recaps of all the characters involved - quite useful especially for this wave that is populated more than half by fairly obscure characters in addition to the better known Perceptor and Kup. Start here to find out more about everybody we'll be talking about!

Wave 4 kicked off with a look at the surprisingly excellent recolors filling out this assortment of five figure. Quake & Chasm take the already outstanding early Titan Return Hardhead mold and give you an amazing deco option to have it with. Yes, I do indeed like this one.

Next up on our coverage of Titans Return wave 4 is the assortment's other recolor Krok. Putting an obscure character on a mold nobody would have seriously called for this application becomes an amazing success story by a beautiful execution of deco - even moreso than Quake! It's amazing! AND it fixes a lot of Skullcruncher's problems!

It's the start of wave 4's new molds! And Kup is the one I care least about. Which is not because it's a bad toy. It's just mostly not an interesting toy, and I take issue with that. It does have a nice transformation to fall back on at the very least!

Perceptor goes to considerable lengths to recreate as much of the experience of the G1 toy as possible. From having a working (kind of) microscope mode, to a third mode one might describe as a tank - even though that one goes undocumented for the retail release - a lot of effort was expended, giving it an unusually high play value.

Topspin is the standout of this wave. Fantastic design ideas and aesthetic choices, with really excellent transformation engineering make this toy shine on all counts. The only issues present seem to be a result of the materials not quite playing right with the design. Later uses of the mold could be effectively perfect!
