To The Death: Forged By Fire - Simon Furman & Geoff Senior's Graphic Novel Kickstarter Now Live!

Following up on the launch of the To The Death digital comic, the Kickstarter for Forged By Fire, the print-exclusive TTD graphic novel, has gone live! This original prequel is not being offered in any other format, and will not be published for the foreseeable future if its (very modest) Kickstarter goal is not met. Backer bonuses include a subscription to the online portion of To The Death, signed copies of the OGN, and even sketches by Geoff Senior! Keep reading for more details.
TO THE DEATH is the new creator-owned online digital comic book saga from Simon Furman and Geoff Senior (co-creators of Dragon’s Claws and Death’s Head, and the writer & artist of numerous Transformers comics). This Kickstarter is to bring to life a print-only prequel in the shape of an exclusive graphic novel.

Set in 2674 AD, this hard-edged and visceral sci-fi saga is presented digitally, in downloadable episodes, with a one-off exclusive print graphic novel, To The Death: Forged By Fire (featuring a story not available in digital format).

The story revolves around Aleksy Dryagin (aka Komodo), a combat veteran returning to Earth after a soul-destroying tour of duty in the depths of space with his Pacifier Squad, ready for retirement but instead pulled into a searing conflict with the all-powerful Tri-Corp, the conjoined Corporation that runs the planet.

With the fate of twelve billion lives hanging perilously in the balance, Dryagin must gird himself for one last battle… that he cannot possibly win.

While To The Death — with its unique full-frame per screen format — was always envisioned as a digital project for the digital age, our core readership still likes something in print and paper, and we aim to deliver that with To The Death: Forged By Fire – a 48-page, full colour hardback (landscape format) graphic novel, showcasing Geoff’s amazing and vibrant art on high quality paper stock.

To The Death has been a mammoth undertaking, far bigger in scope and scale than either of us realized, and has required the unpaid help of our very talented and patient friends to see it to fruition. No matter what, To The Death (the digital comic book) will appear on our website (www.to-the-death.com) in 18 downloadable web-episodes (the first free-to-view), but to create and fund a print graphic novel – something we both wanted to do from the start – we need the help of Kickstarter patrons. We decided to make the graphic novel available only to those who join this Kickstarter campaign – a true exclusive.

Risks and challenges

To The Death: Forged By Fire
has already been completed; the script and artwork have been a labour of love by Geoff and myself as we realised the digital story (www.to-the-death.com) deserved a prequel and also the ability to see Geoff's amazing artwork in a printed format; exclusively through this Kickstarter.

The Kickstarter campaign enables the creators involved to be paid for the work they have produced, and will ensure the full To The Death story can be completed via the digital platform, as well as giving you an exclusive printed graphic novel that will not be available anywhere else in this format.

If we do not reach the funding goal,TTD will still go ahead in it's original online digital format, it will mean that this exclusive prequel graphic novel will have to be placed to one side for the foreseeable future until we can consider other release/printing options.

We first covered To The Death here, with Simon Furman providing us information on how the creative team's robot experience would come into play for this project. Once again, best of luck to Furman and Senior on this new undertaking!
