Toy Fair 2016 - Hasbro Investor & Press Day Event With Details on Combiner Wars Animation, Transformers 5 & 6, More!
RAC - Friday, February 12, 2016

TFW2005 has published an extensive report on Hasbro's Investor & Press Day event for Toy Fair 2016! Among the things you'll find inside are a release date for Transformers 5, details on Transformers 6 and the spinoff movie, new details on Machinima's Combiner Wars animation, the first official photo of Titans Return Titan Class Fortress Maximus, and more! Keep reading to see it all. Films - Transformers 5 will be released on June 23rd, 2017.
The spinoff film, starring Bumblebee, will premiere on June 8th 2018.
Lastly, Transformers 6 will see release on June 28th, 2019.

The Shared Cinematic Universe was once again shown with images of Micronauts, ROM: Spaceknight, GI Joe, Visionaries, and M.A.S.K. Concept are for all of these were shown - though Transformers is still termed as separate from this group of properties, the art showing Optimus Prime is still shown for Micronauts.

Mobile Gaming - Transformers: Earth Wars, are all developed by Hasbro's own developer, Backflip Studios. Earth Wars will debut this weekend at Toy Fair.

The Live Action Transformers show in China we've reported on previously was mentioned.

Fans - Hasbro has categorized fans into four categories: "Casual Fans," "Core Fans," "Hardcore Fans," and "Super Fans." Generations will continue to court the adult collector. Hasbro intends to hold more polls to better understand what their dedicated fans want. Older fans are cited as 30% of the Transformers business.

Machinima - The Combiner Wars Animated Series debuts in July.

Rescue Bots - The new female Rescue Bot has a name: Quickshadow!

Robots In Disguise - RID is cited as the top boys' show in its timeslot in the US, and the top boys' show internationally. (Which suggests that with a timeslot of 6:30 AM in the US, Cartoon Network is squandering a lot of potential as usual. -RAC) A special event is promised for the fall, which will presumably be the series wrap-up movie we'd previously heard about.

Titans Return - Titans Return is scheduled for the fall, and is co-branded with IDW and Backflip Studios, suggesting a coordinated push.

Over on the Free Comic Book Day website, writer John Barber and artist Alex Milne have given an interview about their FCBD offering, Unicron #0! Barber outright calls Unicron "the end of the story we've been telling for over a decade," and touts the involvement of all of IDW's current TF writers in the planning of the story. Keep reading for an excerpt about Unicron #0, and a link to the full interview where Milne & Barber talk about what comics mean to them!
Thanks to SurgeOpressor we have a sighting report of the new assortment of Cyber Battalion figures featuring Shockwave and Sideswipe, plus some new photos of Shockwave. The figures were purchased at a Walgreens in San Francisco (of which we assume there must be a staggering number all told) with at least one other sighting in the same area indicating the beginnings of distribution for the new wave. They're priced the same as their predecessors at Walgreens, around $18, though it seems to vary by location. Click through to check out the new photos.
We've got a quick few images on Weibo giving us our first in hand look at the new Cyber Battalion Sideswipe. Part of an assortment with the brand new Shockwave, Sideswipe has been accused of not entirely representing the typical look of the character, and now we have a clearer idea why: It shares fundamental engineering (and probably some of its parts) with Prowl. While many parts look brand new, some of the inner body structure does seem to be shared between the toys, and they seem to transform identically. You can get a good look at the pair side by side in the new photos to compare them for yourself, click through to see!
This evening via twitter, Flame Toys has shared some new photos of an early sample of their upcoming figure of Tarn. Tarn is the first of IDW's Decepticon Justice Division to get an official, licensed figure representation, albeit a non-transforming one. Flame Toys reports that they've finally finished the color master as depicted in these images, which should represent what the full production run will look like later on. We have the photos mirrored for your convenience, check them out just below!
Thanks to Weibo user NOTRAB. We have look at the Transformers Power of the Primes Optimal Optimus figure. The Beast Wars Maximal Transmetals II design figure is finally seen out of package. Giving us a look at what the final production edition will look like. Read on to see the figure out of the box in his robot, ape, and jet modes after the jump.
