Most of the Classics, even if they have a different altmode and/or new design, have managed to evoke the feel of the character quite well. Even Grimlock, who had one of the most different designs from his G1 form, still was clearly G1 Big Grim. With Powerglide, I just don't get that feel.

I haven't really had that "feel" for any of the Classics figures. With perhaps the exception of Starscream/Ramjet, almost all of them have felt like they could just as easily been the "G1 homage" figures of some random Transformers line.

I got much more of a G1 redeux feeling from the BTs/Alternators - I think because they were updates that were more original in execution and didn't reflect the current mainline toy design aesthetics as much.

I have to say, I'm not really a fan of the design aesthetic for the new Universe figures... especially the deluxes, they look too busy and oddly proportioned. And the sculpting is giving me no happiness (the faces in particular). Of course, I don't know who designs what, but maybe Hasbro should get that guy who designed Classics Bumblebee & Mirage again... that guy knew how to design a robot that looked like a robot, not just a vehicle toy that happened to have been transformed into a robot.

It's funny, with the Autobot cars it seems like Hasbro is trying to make them look like mini-Alternators rather then like the previous Classics. The previous Classics had "simpler" transformation schemes that allowed them to, as you have said, look more like robots.

The current Alternator-inspired look for the Universe Classics seems hit or miss to me. Sunstreaker and Sideswipe look great. Prowl, Silverstreak, and Ironhide, however, seem overly complicated, slightly disproportioned, and flimsy.

None of this applies to Octane/Tankor of course. He pisses lubricates excellence.

The TFA Leaders are apparently the same size so in Canada will probably go for the same price point. 45 CND. I honestly belive Leaders Bulkhead/Megatron are a better buy at that price point than any three of these. JMO.

Please tell me where you shop. Here in southern Ontario Leaders go for $50+ (before taxes) and Ultras are $45.

Bulkhead I wouldn't know about, but I'm angst-ridden over Animated Leader Megs. If I had payed $45 for him it would have been ok, but I ended up paying $60+ for a figure that could have easily been a Voyager and that lacked any of the intricacies that the Movie Leader featured.

As far as Cyclonus...I have to say I'm trying to hold out for that figure. I really do hope he's a voyager instead of a deluxe.

He'll be a Deluxe, and IMO that's a good thing. That means he'll be in scale with the Seekers (Skywarp=Cyclonus FTW) and the 6" Ti Scourge.

Anyway Powerglide looks nice. Definitely the weakest of the three Ultras though. Still, it looks more worth my money then anything coming out of the :animated line.

it looks "solid" but it's a flimsy POS (sry to piss on yer chips dude!)

I'm still on the fence on this one...I do like what the photos have shown of the bot mode as I tend to go for figures with more bot look than human look in the face. I'm not at all attached to the whole G1 look at all. I collect good looking bots with good alt modes. Powerglide does seem to have a solid look to him. As far as Cyclonus...I have to say I'm trying to hold out for that figure. I really do hope he's a voyager instead of a deluxe.

A deluxe, I thought.

I think I shall pull a technical to save face :redface

Inferno and Cyclonus are part of the 25th line, not Universe :run

Personally i REALLY dont like this figure at all. Good review and the heart looks horrible. And its a shame really b/c i REALLY like Powerglide as a character. I LOVE the episode "The girl that loved Powerglide". Plus i think the girl is kinda anime' cute. *blush*

That said, i want Jizai's Powerglide BAAAAAD! lol He is a PERFECT rendition of his cartoon self.

I will pass on Hasbro's version and even Takara's in hopes to one day have the REAL Powerglide. I DO really like Silverbolt though. IMO he's the best of the Ultra's weve seen so far. Onslaught next.

Cadogen review:

*snip* In the first version of the Classics lineup, we had 3 classes of figures: Legend, Deluxe and Voyager. For version 2, Hasbro is sizing things up a bit by going with Ultra class figures instead of Voyagers. *snip*

Did you forget the AWESOME Inferno? They are doing voyagers as well.

And what's Cyclonus? Chopped parts? :tfgrin
