Custom of the Week - Classics Clones: Cloudraker and Fastlane by Massdestruction
BaCon - Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Transformers Garage is on the look out for the best custom / kitbash to feature each week here and in the Transformers Garage Hall of Fame section. This week's featured custom is Classics Autobot Clones: Cloudraker and Fastlane by Massdestruction. Both of these customs were ingeniusly made from the same Universe Brakedown mold, easily making Massdestruction'a Autobot Clones the Customs of the week! Check out his write up on the toys:

"Here are My Classics Autobot Clones: Cloudraker and Fastlane. They are both made using Universe Brakedown.

Fastlane is basically just a repaint with a few exceptions. His head was molded from an Energon Blackout and the spoiler is off of a Universe Downshift. The gun had the spring blade removed and the barrel was cut off of one of the guns from Energon Windrazor (the rest of the gun would be used for Cloudraker.

Cloudraker has heavier modifications. The entire front of the dragster was removed as well as the back wheels. (Originally I was going to use him in this conditon as a base for a War Within Bumblebee, but when I saw him next to the unaltered Brakedown, I knew I had to make the clones instead). I attached the nosecone off of a Movie Air Raid mold that I was using for a kitbash of G1 Cylconus' buddy Armada.

I used Mighty Putty to fill in the gaps between the nosecone and Brakedown's driver's seat and also used the putty to sculpt the robot shoulders. The wings were cut off of a KO G1 Skydive, cut into a rectangular shape and attached with a screw. His head was also molded from an Energon Blackout and the gun is what was left over from the Energon Windrazor gun that I cut for Fastlane. The red and tan paint were both custom mixed from Testors Enamel. The black is flat black and the silver and gold are just silver and gold."

very nice work. I stay away from fan made stuff because they open more holes in the pockets.

Very nice, I always liked the clones. side rant, I hate that every line has a special gimmic that everything is based around. That was the beauty of the origional G1 line, whatever it was they threw it in, lots of variety and it all worked well.

Transformers At The Moon has posted the latest in their series of deleted audio and extended scenes from the original 1984 The Transformers cartoon series! This time, they've got over ten minutes' worth of dialogue from "Heavy Metal War," featuring the first appearance of the Constructicons. Keep reading to see the video along with a transcript of the dialogue.
The closure of ToysRUs provokes a lot of emotions - sadness, frustration at the circumstances, and in some a misguided sense of satisfaction stemming from their latter-day pricing habits. But at some point in our lives a great many of us were ToysRUs Kids. And so longtime Transformers fan and ASMzine proprietor Phil Zeman has created the site I Didn't Want to Grow Up, which is accepting submissions of your stories and reminiscences of visiting what was once the premiere source of action figures for children and collectors. Click through for a link!
Few would guess the last piece to be reissued from the original Transformers Generation 1 series would be the music scores. Even though the original cartoons have been reissued, updated and restored multiple times. Fans that have been asking for copies of the Original Sound Tracks (OST) masters have finally gotten theirs, on vinyl of all things. IF, they were fast enough to buy one of the 2,000 copies that sold out in less than 10 minutes. The good news is a second pressing is in the works.
ALL GOOD THINGS…! Rodimus and the Crusadercons have reached their final destination. The trouble is, it’s not Cyberutopia. In fact, it’s not ANYWHERE. But they’d better get used to it, because they’re going to be there until the end of Time…
After selling out their limited run within minutes, Enjoy The Ride Records has announced that their vinyl G1 soundtrack LP will be heading back to the presses later this year! Details and an exact timeframe are not known at this time, but it's good to know that access to this (at present) vinyl-only release will be expanding somewhat. Keep reading to see the announcement!
