52toys has posted a batch of very interesting images showing us the new Universe 2.0 Hot Shot and Jolt compared side by side with the original Armada Hot Shot and Mini-con Jolt action figures. Many years have passed and the Armada action figure really shows it. The 25th Anniversary has been good for Hot Shot giving him some better articulation, a clear visor, and upgrades for his little mini-con buddy Jolt.
In robot mode, Universe 2.0 Hot Shot is quite different from head to toe, the entire figure looks to be completely new. From the top of figure working down, we can see those big shoulder blocks have been swapped out for real articulated shoulders that look to move in more than one direction. The head's been re-sculpted, loosing that terminally happy-bot look for a bit more of a "I'll can kick your ass" look. The old black visor been replaced with clear blue tinted one Hot Shot can actually see out of.
His chest has been remolded too. There's more strapping goodness for whatever reason. The biggest improvement are the arms. Gone are the gaunt wrestler arms that barely moved. Replaced with more articulated limbs, he's got two elbow joints now, the forearms are still impaled with that awful fender kibble. His legs have been upgraded too with the addition of knee joints and some nicer looking paint apps. The Cannon weapon has been removed entirely. A bonus IMO.
As for the vehicle mode, its actually a bit smaller than the original with some different molding and paint applications. Note the front-end has been redesigned. Also, we get a clear blue windshield and clear yellow headlights. The engine block sticking out of of the hood has been scaled down quite a bit and does not look to be his weapon anymore. Also notice, the mini-con posts have been removed from the rear spoilers. Hot Shot's also traded his Playskool looking wheels with the red buttons for some sporty painted rims.
Moving on to the Universe Jolt (shown right). We can see like Hot Shot, the figure is a tad smaller. The figure is cast in a darker red plastic. He's also been remolded with a more proper robot body that looks a little bit like Hot Rod. He's also got black rotor-blades instead of red like the predecessor.
