IDW Expands Their Digital Library Including New Transformer E-Comics

IDW continues to expand it's digital library. Included in this bevy of new books are a hefty dose of Transformers comics. Now on iTunes you can prequel and adaptation comics for the first movie have joined those of Revenge of the Fallen. IDW EXPANDS DIGITAL CANNON


New iPhone and iPod Touch applications to include G.I. JOE, Transformers, and classic comics


San Diego, CA (July 22, 2009) – Expanding its strong lead in the digital publishing arena, at San Diego Comic Con today IDW Publishing announced several major expansions to its digital comic book initiative. The newly available digital comics include IDW’s G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra prequel comics, plus TRANSFORMERS and CSI. In the coming weeks, IDW will continue to expand its electronic offerings with more G.I. JOE and TRANSFORMERS, as well as new titles available digitally for the first time, such as the classic J. Scott Campbell series Danger Girl, as well as Astro Boy,
Groom Lake, John Sable Freelance, and GrimJack.

“The digital medium represents a huge opportunity for the comics industry, and we’re proud to be leading the way,” said IDW CEO, Ted Adams. “Through epublishing, we can introduce an entire new audience to comics and the joys of comic books.”

IDW launched the first digital TRANSFORMERS comics in May, which quickly became among the most popular paid iTunes applications. Today, the TRANSFORMERS catalogue expands to include the prequel and adaptation graphic novels for the original movie. IDW’s entire G.I. JOE: The Rise of the Cobra prequel comics are also available starting today, with the movie adaptations coming soon. The fan-favorite series G.I. JOE: Origins is now on iTunes for the first time. The company’s CSI comic series also debuted on iTunes today.

In addition to new material and story lines, IDW will bring the classic 1980s TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE series to the iPhone and the Internet, beginning with Classic TRANSFORMERS, which  can now be found on at
Classic-Transformers.com.

In short order, IDW will further expand its digital offerings to include classic comics, beginning with Danger Girl. Created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, Danger Girl is a sexy take on spy comics, combine humor, suspense and action with a cadre of well-drawn heroines. Danger Girl #0 is currently available as a free application here on iTunes, featuring an eight-page preview of the comic.
