Hasbro's Transformers Hall of Fame Announced - Help Choose The Next Robot!
BaCon - Friday, March 26, 2010

HASBRO “ROLLS OUT” TRANSFORMERS HALL OF FAME TRANSFORMERS Fans Will Participate in Selecting One Robot for the Class of 2010

Pawtucket, R.I. (March 26, 2010) — After more than 25 years of “MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE” action, Hasbro (NYSE: HAS) is announcing the TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame that will honor both “ROBOTS IN DISGUISE” and those influential in creating and building this iconic entertainment brand.

Heroic AUTOBOTS OPTIMUS PRIME and BUMBLEBEE, as well as evil DECEPTICONS MEGATRON and STARSCREAM, will be the first robots honored with admission as chosen by Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame internal panel of judges. TRANSFORMERS fans around the world will determine a fifth robot to join the inaugural class via voting on the website starting on Monday, May 10, 2010. The winning robot will be revealed Saturday night, June 26, 2010 in Orlando, FL at the annual TRANSFORMERS convention known as “BotCon” when the entire Class of 2010 will be officially inducted.

“The TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame celebrates a global entertainment property that has sparked the imagination of millions of kids over the past 26 years and remains one of the world’s most iconic brands,” said Greg Lombardo, senior director of marketing for TRANSFORMERS. “Starting in 2010, Hasbro will annually honor fans’ most-loved characters from the world of CYBERTRON as well as those individuals who have helped shape a brand that has spawned an army of popular action figures, multiple animated series and two blockbuster live action movies that set worldwide box office records.”

First introduced in 1984 by Hasbro and Takara as a toy line, the TRANSFORMERS brand has provided kids with hours of MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE fun with their action figures that convert from robot to vehicles and back again. Legions of boys around the world grew up creating fantastic adventures and battles set on both the planet CYBERTRON and Earth that featured the “good-guy” AUTOBOTS and the “bad-guy” DECEPTICONS. Since then, more than 7500 robots have been introduced and are now eligible to earn a slot in the TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame’s inaugural class.

We did get BT Meister/Alt Jazz ... eventually we'll get a Classics figure, I think AA will be leaving his release for when the line is a little jaded.

every character suggested so far has had an awesome toy made after them, except Jazz. all we have of Jazz is his g1 incarnations and a crappy movie version that got killed. I sick of Jazz getting a bad wrap! JAZZ JAZZ JAZZ at least in honor of scatman carothers

Prime, Jazz, Grimlock, Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream were the TFs that most captured the imaginations of kids back when G1 was launched. You can't look past these six for the inaugural hall of fame.

Who came up with the list of transformers to vote on on the main page. Honestly I didn't see any I would want to vote for. No Soundwave, no dev and no Grimlock? How is that even possible. And what did Wheely ever do to get voted? Just saying...

Hmm, I have actually been thinking about this. As far as going through all the TF history and lines are concerned I guess my pick would have to be for one of the following. I think when you sum it all up they are probably at the top of the line.... Still before BB. I think the nly reason BB is even ... read more

In a saddeningly timely turn of events, CNN Money has reported that Charles Lazarus, founder of ToysRUs, has passed away at the age of 94. Lazarus began the business that came to be known as ToysRUs in 1948, opening his first all-toy store in 1957 and staying with the company until 1994. TFormers expresses our deepest condolences Mr. Lazarus' friends and family.
On Facebook, XM Studios has posted a new teaser render for an upcoming licensed Megatron statue they're working on. The highly stylized take on G1 Megatron has all of the recognizable elements, though done in a style that's more like movie-meets-G1. Interestingly it's also called out as being "1/10 scale". But without an indication what they're basing the "real" height on, that doesn't offer much clarity toward the size that this statue will ultimately be. We've mirrored the teaser image below, click through and take a look!
Transformers At The Moon has posted the latest in their series of deleted audio and extended scenes from the original 1984 The Transformers cartoon series! This time, they've got over ten minutes' worth of dialogue from "Heavy Metal War," featuring the first appearance of the Constructicons. Keep reading to see the video along with a transcript of the dialogue.
The closure of ToysRUs provokes a lot of emotions - sadness, frustration at the circumstances, and in some a misguided sense of satisfaction stemming from their latter-day pricing habits. But at some point in our lives a great many of us were ToysRUs Kids. And so longtime Transformers fan and ASMzine proprietor Phil Zeman has created the site I Didn't Want to Grow Up, which is accepting submissions of your stories and reminiscences of visiting what was once the premiere source of action figures for children and collectors. Click through for a link!
Few would guess the last piece to be reissued from the original Transformers Generation 1 series would be the music scores. Even though the original cartoons have been reissued, updated and restored multiple times. Fans that have been asking for copies of the Original Sound Tracks (OST) masters have finally gotten theirs, on vinyl of all things. IF, they were fast enough to buy one of the 2,000 copies that sold out in less than 10 minutes. The good news is a second pressing is in the works.
