The Business Journal of Milwaukee is
reporting that "Transformers 3" will be coming to town to do some filming at Milwaukee Art Museum and the Tower Automotive site between July 12th and 13th. The report also highlights that direct Bay is looking for "executive types" to server as paid extras in the movie. TF3 sure gets around the USA, let's hope these less humans than meets the eye this time.
The producers of the third installment of the "Transformers" movie franchise will be filming scenes in Milwaukee and are looking for "executive types" to serve as paid extras in the movie.
Hollywood director Michael Bay plans to use the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Tower Automotive site as locations for the shoot July 12-13, said Dave Fantle, vice president of public relations for Visit Milwaukee, the local convention and visitors bureau. The art museum will be closed for at least one day of the shoot.
The main attraction seems to be the Milwaukee Art Museum which is housed in a very futuristic looking building called the "Quadracci Pavilion." Check out the image below. It could double for a space age terminal or something far out and futuristic. Let's hope its not an Earth location in the movie.
What's so special about Tower Automotive? One can only guess that their focus on automobile design and building will have some role in the movie. Perhaps as a setting for the manufacture of some of the combat robots that are rumored to be in the movie? Here's some info from Tower's
web site on what they do:
Tower Automotive is one of the largest independent global suppliers of automotive metal structural components and assemblies. We serve virtually every major automotive vehicle manufacturer, providing a broad range of metal structures from stampings to complex body and frame assemblies.
