Well, this is a little surprising! While Shout! Factory did not really put up a big banner for this release, this is quite an effort that the company will release TakaraTomy's
Transformers Headmasters,
Super-God Masterforce, and
Victory all in one box set under "The Japanese Collection" banner.
The box set is scheduled for a July 5, 2011 release date, the same date as the
Transformers Headmasters series box set, and will contain a whopping 13 discs.
The set seems to be available only on
Shout! Factory's online store at this point for $89.99 plus shipping. The list price is $99.99.
It is not expected that
any English-language dubs will be available on any of the series.
This information comes a day after
we reported that Brian Ward, a producer with the company, hinted that the latter two series will be hitting DVD after the release of
Headmasters.
He said that the company would be using the sales of the
Transformers Headmasters to gauge interest for the other two series.
This strategy is similar to how Shout! Factory has been releasing their other Transformers series.
The company has most recently solicited the first season of Beast Wars and then made available a
full series box set available through their online store a week or so later.
Shout! also sold the Generation 1 seasons as separate boxed sets and announced a bundled version as the Matrix of Leadership Edition around the same time.
