KICK ASS!!! That's what Atari's new "Transformers" PS2 game preview was last night. After seeing it, I can attest, that we will all be KICKING ASS on the likes of Megatron, Cyclonus, and good many others Decepticons on May 11th when the game is released in the United States for the Sony Play Station 2.
A real preview this was, with the action gaming press in attendance en mass. There was also a TF fan site or two who we were lucky enough bring you a
preview of what is sure to be the ultimate Transformers gaming experience - Ever. The event was hosted on a life-sized version of Tidal Wave, the USS Hornet Air Craft Carrier that was docked at the port in Alameda, California. Guests arrived at 7pm and boarded the ship to be greeted by a plethora of game kiosks installed all around the facility. A stage was set up to one side for the band Dropbox, who cut some of the music tracks on the game, to perform. Top that off with product designers from Melbourne House in Australia, Atari product marketing reps and their real experts (the game testers) were on hand to give us the details on the game and what's in store for the May 11th release.
Don't worry, we've got news and a HUGE image gallery that should tide you over till May. The first bit of news that I gleaned from the event is the game is no longer called "Armada Battle for Energon." The game is now named just plain old to the point "Transformers." This game lives up to the name too. Don't let those Armada bots fool you, they come to life in a magnificently fluid fashion that is really quite breath taking to watch.Rendered in cutting edge computer graphics, it has a near cinematic quality to it.
The game itself is quite extensive too. Not just a fighting game, there is an intricate combination of gaming concepts that will satisfy all kinds of
players. Oh and you might be surprised at what you see in this game. These teams at Atari have done their homework. You'll be surprised to see who crops up in all the action. For legal reasons, that's about all we can tell you about the game play at this time. Stay tuned, though. We'll be unleashing the intimate details on the game itself in the near future.
