BotCon 2005 - Coverage Begins Here!

Botcon 2005 - Frisco, TX

Botcon 2005 officially kicks off Friday Morning, however with registration opening Thursday evening and convention attendees receiving their exclusive figure packs, the buzz was already on. Greeting the attendees as they waited in line to pick up their registration packets and figures was a beautiful glass case displaying all of the Botcon 2005 exclusive figures as well as hats and t-shirts to commemorate the weekend. Along with the seven figures that had been revealed to the public, the rumors and predictions were confirmed as a beautiful repaint and head re-sculpt of Energon Towline in full on G1 Ratchet goodness stood staring back at the attendees. In a two-pack purchase that cost the attendees $65.00, a red repaint of Energon Arcee accompanied Ratchet. As an 'Attendee Only Special', yet another repaint of Energon Arcee awaited the attendees at the registration desk. This Black repaint with orange flames truly struck a cord with the attendees. Those that were among the first 100 to register also received a pin of the Head of the Deathsaurus exclusive.

Once registration closed, a fervor of trading and room-to-room parts parties started with many rooms not being large enough to fit all the visitors. Finding anything from previous Botcon exclusives to all the parts a G1 fanboy could ever want, there certainly wasn't a lack of product to be had and deals to be made. The only thing that took the attention away from the parts parties was the happy hour hold overs still at the hotel bar.

After a couple hours of buying, selling, and trading, the folks at Master Collector treated all in attendance to an MSTF. With Greg Sepelak, Phil Zeman & Doug Dlin treating all to comedic commentary performed along with several G1 cartoon episodes. The terrible threesome served up some slapstick humor for the crowd and were rewarded with several rounds of applause and laughter for their efforts. From a parody of the Star Wars intro, to facetious casting of the upcoming live action Transformers Movie, these guys did not disappoint.

Tomorrow everything gets into full swing and we'll have many more updates for you then.
