Look At New SWTF Figures For 2008

Our Star Wars-obsessed sister-site Jedi Insider is giving us a look at two newly minted repaints from the Star Wars/Transformers line.

The two figures are the Clone Pilot/Republic Gunship repainted with a Clone Wars color scheme packaged with a miniature ARC Trooper pilot; and Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jedi Starfighter that comes with a Hyperspace Ring.

Take a peek over at JediInsider.com.

But will he give you a reacharound? That's worth the extra $2.

Commander Cody is worth $8 tops.

The biggest thing that still keeps me from buying these is the price. They really should be $10. I saw Commander Cody yesterday and thought about getting it, but "meh" set in on the price.

I'd think that the Y-Wing or A-Wing would be more obvious candidates.

I think another problem with a TIE Fighter SWTF is that the panels would have to be collapsible to be used in the transformation, which would probably make it impossible to stand up in vehicle mode.

A Y-wing SWTF would be as good as bought. That's my favorite Star Wars ship of all time. They're the A-10s of the Star Wars universe.

it is strange that we havent gotten a normal tie fighter yet.

I don't think there is enough mass to a TIE fighter to make it work. There's, what, a ball, two solar panels, and two pylons connecting them? Where would all the robot (mech, whatever) bits come from? Even with the Darth Vader Tie fighter, there's more structure to the fighter than just the ball and solar panels. And the figure is contained within the central mass, the panels just form his cape and an unnecessary shield.

I agree. But $h!tty designs haven't stopped them from trying before.

anyway I think it would be really interesting to see it attempted...

If the Tie Panels fold-up (like Deathstarvader) it could create some nice armor plating for legs or arms ( made from the spindles)

Everything else can just fold out of the rolly ball, like M-Bonecrusher. They can also cheat like the toys always do by putting a flat handle on the back side.

Just random speculating here...
