they seem to do that quite a bit whether its transformers, joes, or whatever.
I love the response a lot of the animated stuff is getting from these people, and that some of us aren't the only ones loving it. What surprises me is just how little prepared Hasbro is for Animated and on the flip side how far they are in advance with Universe for the new year. Normally with main "cartoon" lines Hasbro has everything well in advance for every character that hits the screen. I mean no plans yet for Omega Supreme, wtf?
I don't like to presume too much with stuff like this, but I did kind of get a "do you guys have your shit together at all?" vibe from this. I mean, yeah, great, Universe out the wazoo, but did you realize that Animated is like a huge hit and maybe you could be focusing a bit more on that? It's like the whole "gosh we didn't realize that the movie would be so big" thing. Are they expecting the brand to fail?
Oh and about IDW characters translating into Universe, hello, Sunstreaker and Prowl have been lifted right off the pages, Alt mode, and all. Also laughed at the "Seaspray looking cool?" comment. Maybe he'll end up a freaking Ultra or something. :tflaugh
Oh and if Hasbro reads this- Human Animated figures are a must. For the first time TF cartoon has showcased an entire ensemble of human characters who are worth a damn and aren't cringe worthy with every appearence.
I demand deluxe figures of Sari, Fanzone, and Dr Sumdac to go alongside the animated Bots. :tfevil
Did you ever come to think that the IDW artists had the Universe molds and used them to draw the comics? Take Jetfire for example, Storm Bringer: That was already a toy before it got put on pages. It just LOOKED liked they took the idea from IDW because we saw the comic first. But in reality, the comic was drawn from the toy that wasnt released yet, that ALOT of Hasbro/IDW employees get to see before the publics eyes.
About the human figures, i bet they have something in the works. Dont put it past Hasbro, where there is demand, they will suffice.
it's really kinda creepy how excited people got at some of the stuff. I guess I'm just not the kind of fan that would hoot and holler over a toy, but then I also don't clap at the end of movies. :shrug
I don't even think I could have sat through that even if I were there.
Awesome. Some cool stuff to watch out for. Im hoping for more castte minions and nebulan partners (Headmasters would be nice). Inferno looks way too much like prime.
clearly these guys spend the majority of their time behind closed doors fiddling with plastic molds. Which I suppose is a good thing for Transformers fans.listening to the intro for two minutes was painful. The guy inserts a nice "ah" after every half-sentence.
And the way he jumped right into the powerpoint 101 slide show with the unsmooth "movie was huge for us," transition is too creepy. It reminds of the marketing that is a fact of toy life, but I'd rather not watch.
Could I ask a kindly TFormers member to post the key highlights/executive summary of this talk so I don't have to suffer through the whole thing?
thanks
Already done. You can find the panel report and the pictures of the slides in this article: http://tformers.com/transformers-sdcc-2008.../9906/news.html

I let out a howl or two. F*ck it, LET'S RAWK! :hbang

Who the hell is controlling the camera, seriously, they are showing images on screen and you got the the camera person switching to the speakers. I don't need to see the speakers talking while people are cheering.... its bugging me and I'm only 6 minutes in.
:tfpwn If I were to think of a new Transformers line (vs. Alternators) for 08, it would be Transformers (Military) Destructors. Imagine Starscream (f15), Megatron (Abrams Tank), Swindle 2(Jeep w/ army colors), and more decepticons transforming into Military vehicles, boats and planes.
