10 Robots On Each Side In TF2?

Roberto Orci, one-third of the "Transformers 2" scriptwriting team, has hinted that there may possibly be 10 robots for each Autobot and Decepticon faction in the film. "I'd love and think we could almost barely manage ten on each side," wrote Mr. Orci on the Don Murphy message boards. However, not all of them will be in the spotlight, he says, "some front and center and others as more supporting."

Roberto Orci stating (in a way) that Transformers 2 may have up to 10 robots on each side, potentially doubling the cast of the first film (which stood at 13)

Just wanted to point out, this quote just says that Orci thinks ten robots on a side is managable, not that it's a done deal...

I also have to agree with Hobbes, you'd have to be crazy to think that they won't have new toys for the returning characters in the next movie line. Optimus and Bumblebee were the biggest sellers from the first line, no way Hasbro's not going to milk them for all they're worth in the next line.

:pfx

Not releasing toys of returning characters would be like not releasing a new spider-man toy every time a new spider-man movie came out. It just wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah, I remember when the Spider-Man 2 line came out and the only character in it was Doctor Octopus and everyone thought that was cool. And let's not forget the Joker/Two-Face only The Dark Knight toy line.

Come on, guys, of course the 'Formers from part 1 will get new toys. Welcome to the wild world of merchandising. Just remember you're not required to buy them if you don't want to. And if you want to, don't blame Hasbro for creating product that you desire, whatever your reasons for wanting it. It's kinda their job.

Woo Hoo!! I think that having more bots for the new movie will be fanatically fantastic! I do hope that the first movie bots get to keep their appearance for the second movie but with additional bots, I wonder what else we are going to be looking towards? ^_^

Of course I like the idea of new characters. I would prefer that the new movie line produce JUST those new characters. If the original characters from the first movie keep their original ALT/Bot modes, then there is no reason to remake the figures. I for one wouldn't have any interest in buying a whole new set of figures of the same characters in the same alt/bot modes as the ones I've already got. NOW if they have some cool add-ons, like a trailer for Prime, I may consider it.

Of course if there are 10 bots per faction...that means 6 new Autobots and, assuming Barricade is still functional and Megs comes back, 7 new Cons. I would say that would give Hasbro PLENTY of new characters to produce figures for without redoing the original characters or repaints (HOPEFULLY). I mean how many different figures are out in the current movie line? Not counting stealth BB or the premiums, or the real gear figures.

I bet though that they will shoehorn the Cliffjumper figure in as a new official character as well as some of the other figures they produced that were not in TF1. If they do that, I do hope they reproduce some of those figures because, with the exception of Wreckage and Stealth BB, I havn't bought any figures/paintjobs that were NOT in the movie. I'll miss out on the first run of those figures.

I hope they atleast streamline their appearances this time. Too many insect type faces and their robot modes looked to complex with car parts just randomly stuck to limbs. Hopefully they will simplify them abit.

If this is true about there being 10 bots per side, they better show some of them in the trailers and teasers when they are out!! Was kinda thinking that Chinese police car could possibly be Prowl, and that the 3-wheeled bike could possibly be Ravage..

Can't wait to see which Decepticons will be showing up in TF2 either!!

A lot of good points made about the first run of movie figs needing improvements.

Though I like the movie figs for what they are there's no denying they could have been better. I the core characters are redone I'd most want a better Barricade toy that featured those spinning weapons. Hasbro did a wonderful alt mode but everything else is pretty much :fail

Jazz returning could also yield a much better mode.

Prime as a Leader class to was pretty good but hopefully if Hasbro does go back to the drawing board for this one the face will be movie accurate and the proportions/gun a lot better.

Also each figure released this time around had better come with its own all spark fragment. :tflaugh

More robots = less crappy repaints. I think since Hasbro saw how successful the first movie was, they're more willing to put more robot fodder out there this time around.

Personally, I think more robots = more original molds = more crappy repaints because there are more molds to repaint. You gotta recoup costs on those molds eventually. But, as with the first movie, I'll just ignore the repaints.

I read about this on Wikipedia weeks ago. Took it with a grain of salt, but this seems to be a little more confirming, and would therefore seem more likely the Chevy Malibu with custom Chinese writing police car that was in the article about Jazz's possible return to the cast being Prowl, seems more and more likely.

As for toys is concerned, I agree with Hobbes-timus on the figures he listed. I think a cross between the the first release and premium Prime heads would be perfect for the head, and secondly, would it be so hard to put in a removeable mouth plate. I mean, they did that with Galaxy Force/Cybertron Prime and they're doing it Voyager class (ergo smaller) Animated Prime. If Jazz does return, they need to fix his head. Namely his mouth. And fix the hands too. If Barricade comes back, they need to redo him using the Premium head, but he needs hands people. Hands. Ratchet, pretty good they only thing I might change would be the weapons.
