Coinciding with an announcement and reveal at Tokyo Toy Show, TakaraTomy Mall has listed the first preorder pages for an upcoming exclusive series of Golden Lagoon inspired Transformers toys. Celebrating the upcoming 35th anniversary, three releases are currently known: Starscream, using the same tooling as Unite Warriors Ghost Starscream, a three pack of Perceptor, Seaspray, and Beachcomber using Titans Return and Power of The Primes molds, and a gold MP-10 Optimus/Convoy. Besides stock photos, we also have a few display photos from Tokyo Toy Show from Masabon and portarmy on Twitter that you can see in our gallery.
All of the toys will feature gold chrome elements. How much varies, seemingly largely to do with what part on each toy can take paint or not. Unfortunately that does mean all of them have an abrupt mix of shiny gold and flat mustard, which for the most part isn't terrible in the robot modes, but comes together much less well in the alternate modes of each toy.
Starscream is due in October and is priced at ¥3800;
Perceptor, Seaspray, and Beachcomber will ship in November, and are priced at ¥8000;
Optimus is priced at ¥15,000, but a release schedule has not been announced as yet.
All three will be exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall and it sounds like also Cybertron Satellite retail locations in Japan.
