Transformers 4: Age of Extinction - Bay Says Hong Kong Filming "Kind of Scary" But Will Go Back To "The Visual City"

South China Morning Post caught up with Transformers: Age of Extinction director Michael Bay to talk with him about his experience filming in Hong Kong. By now, everyone knows about the extortion attempts on his crew, but the article goes beyond the bad things that happened to cover what Bay liked about the city of Hong Kong and what he called "a very visual city." The director also shared his insights about why he's tired of filming in America where he says he covered all of Los Angles in all his films and needs "new inspiration."

It was kind of scary. The Hong Kong crew was embarrassed. They even considered paying him five times more but I said no,
...
In the restaurants, in the hotel, I must have 30 people coming to me saying ‘I’m so sorry’. But it was such a silly incident,
...
Hong Kong was very hard,” said Bay. “I’ve had difficult locations in my life. But shooting in the market with so many people watching ... it made it very challenging.
...
I can still shoot in Texas and people in China are still going to see it,” he said. “You want to do something new and different. I’m tired of shooting in Los Angeles ... I almost shot it out. You need new inspiration. This is the city that I always wanted to shoot.
