Andy Schmidt Leaving IDW At the End of the Month

UPDATE: We heard back from Mr. Schmidt and he will attend BotCon. Article updated as necessary.

Andy Schmidt is leaving the position of Senior Editor at IDW Publishing to work for Hasbro, Inc, Bleeding Cool reports.

We reached out to our contacts at IDW and we are told Mr. Schmidt is leaving at the end of the month.

It is unknown if he will appear at BotCon 2011. Mr. Schmidt's last act as an IDW employee is to attend BotCon 2011.

We have also reached out to Mr. Schmidt for comment and will let you know when we hear back.

His departure has left a void at the San Diego, California-based comic book publisher, Bleeding Cool reports, and that means the company is looking for a replacement to start sometime in June who possesses a "very strong editorial background" and is "familiar with the comic book industry."

"[E]xperience working with creators and licensors and has a myriad of strengths that would be applicable to working on monthly comics," is also a plus.
