This probably has to be a record of some kind. The rumor that Michael Bay was close to signing a deal to direct Transformers 4 surfaced yet again last night, but over the wee hours of the morning, Mr. Bay posted on his official website that he has not decided, but does not flat-out deny rumor, either.
"Right now I'm not decided on Transformers 4," he posted on Shoot For the Edit.
He says "[s]tudio's [sic] are passing rumors" but he is not sure what he is doing beyond shooting Pain and Gain in spring 2012.
He reveals that he has "several [s]tudio meetings in the next two weeks" but does not specify the studios.
"I'm leaving all of my options on the table," he writes.
Usually Mr. Bay flat-out denies rumors (even when they are true), so this is a bit odd of a statement that he leaves it open-ended.
While he does not deny New York Magazine's rumor, he does not corroborate either.
Only time will tell.
The New York Magazine reported that a deal was not closed, but is not far from closing on one either. The website also reported that the film would begin shooting in December 2012.
For more check out our report from last night.
Pain and Gain is a true story low budget crime thriller. Not much is really known about the film.
