BotCon 2008 Details, Figure Set Revealed

The Transformers Collectors' Club has revealed the details to BotCon 2008 on the official website today.

The Figures
As we reported late last year, the organizers promised to shatter everything the transfans knew. There was a lot of speculation, along with some saying that the Decepticons would become heroes and the Autobots would be the villains.

Well, for those of you who thought that, pat yourselves on the back:
This year’s chronicle shatters everything you thought you knew about Transformers! Here is a universe you never expected...

On a world known as Cybertron, a ruthless and cruel tyrant prepares his army for an all out attack. Their destination: a planet, rich in resources, known as Earth! Only a small band of rebels stands between this evil warlord and his plans for universal conquest. If these brave soldiers are unable to stop the attack, then there will be nothing to prevent this shattered universe from falling victim to the maniacal Optimus Prime and his evil legion of... Autobots?

This is truly a malformed universe where the Decepticons are heroic and the Autobots are evil!

Coming this spring, the battle lines will be drawn and a new champion will emerge. A young and noble Decepticon will stand up and fight for freedom, the freedom, which is the right of all Transformers! Advising him will be his trusted lieutenant Starscream, and his fellow virtuous Decepticons. They will fight to the very last to stop the spread of Optimus Prime’s tyranny!

Don’t miss this outstanding collection of Transformers figures as it is a one-of-a-kind “must have” for every Transformers Fan’s collection!
The "Shattered Glass" convention set includes the bad guys Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Autobot Jazz, and Goldbug; and good guys Starscream and Minicon Razorclaw, "all presented in an illustrated display box."

The Packages
Like every other year, there will be four packages: Primus ($285 for club members or $335 for non-members), Mini-Con ($80 for members or $90 for non-members), Protoform ($120 for club members or $170 for nonmembers), and Iacon ($285 for club members or $335 ppd for nonmembers).

To see what the packaging consists of as well as all of the events taking place during the convention, read the brochure available on the BotCon website (PDF).

Registration, hotel, and general admission information is also available at BotCon.com.

BotCon 2008 will take place in Cincinnati, OH at the Duke Energy Center from April 24th to April 28th, 2008.

Registration is not yet open, but will be by the end of the month. The hotel, as reported earlier, is the Hyatt Regency across the street from the convention center.

Man that was close!

See I thought they were gonna supper screw us again.... this time by giving us Slag and Slug in the 2.0 classics, but keeping Swoop and Snarl in some lame ass four hundred dollar "exclusives" rip off.

But now I can put my worries aside and they can keep that evil autobot crap....LOL!

All I can picture is the Challenge of the Gobots mirror universe story. "The Guardians are attacking Wen Kroy!" Oh please

Oy gevalt.

The toys I'm not particularly interested in - it's a decent concept done right, but I'm good enough with repainting that I can probably do a decent approximation (sin remold elements of course). It's the fiction that interests me, again, if done right. All I can picture is the Challenge of the Gobots mirror universe story. "The Guardians are attacking Wen Kroy!" Oh please . . . .

I dunno. This whole thing seems weird. I really feel like they are going off of DC's Countdown with alternate universes... like instead of Justice League America we get Crime Syndicate of Amerika?

granted, I did just wake up, but I can't find the pics. I'm curious to see what jazz & goldbug look like. Optimus prime can suck a duck.

All we've seen is the shadowy image in the background of the Botcon website.

I am usually intrigued by the botcon sets, but I've never bought any, only because of the price. Which I'm not complaining about, but I just don't have it to spend.

I really liked the pre-earth beast wars set. I like when they use an unexpected mold for a main character (crumplezone-primal).

That being said, I hope Megatron is the Classics Prime mold, but I know that won't happen.

It's nice that they are making a "take it or leave it" BotCon set; nice to have but not a must have.

:pfx

I'm sure it'll be a great set. It won't leave a gaping hole if my collection not having it, but I'd love to grab one if I had the cash spare.

Top marks for BotCon IMO. :thumb
