Those of us who followed on with Beast Machines were in for a shock when the Wave 1 toys appeared. Seemingly, all the great Beast Wars Primals were forgotten in the Heroic Maximal Optimus Primal deluxe class figure. Bearing almost no resemblance to the show character, he did feature a neat Energy Shuriken (Energon Ninja Star) weapon with throwing action. However, the figure is a disappointing design that leaves much to be desired compared to the 1998 Beast Wars Optimal Optimus Primal (left) and the 2021 Kingdom Optimus Primal (right).
