First Look At Masterpiece Hot Rod - And Shockwave?! Now With More Photos

On display at a TakaraTomy booth right now, we've gotten our very first look at the Masterpiece Hot Rod teased in Figure King this month. Seen as a gray prototype, we should perhaps hope that it's not quite all finished yet as the hood/chest doesn't seem to be folding down flat. But the greatest surprise was elsewhere on the table, with a prototype for Masterpiece Shockwave. These first images don't show the tags clearly to hint at release timing, but it looks like 2016 will be an interesting MP year. Keep reading for more info!

Based on subsequent pictures from hobbylog.jp, we can confirm what we all would have suspected, and Shockwave is one of the larger Masterpiece figures like Soundwave. Neither have number designations yet, which means no concrete idea of when the releases may happen. However, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think Shockwave might make it out around the same time that Star Saber did, keeping it in the first quarter of next year. Stay tuned for more updates!
