Hasbro Masterpiece Soundwave and Acid Strom Coming July 2013

Thanks to OzFormers member Ultra Mackness and griffinwho has managed to get a little time with Hasbro's Austrialian representives who informed them Hasbo down-under are planning to release both a Masterpiece Soundwave as well as a Masterpiece Acid Strom that we assume will be a Seeker repaint. These figures are said to be be in stores around July of this year. Read on for the full details from OZformers below.

Ultra Mackness's Comments on Soundwave

Okay so to help me make a decision about whether I give Takara my cash for MP Soundwave, I decided to email Hasbro about whether there will be a Hasbro release of MPSW or not and just got this reply:

Hi Michael, I am sorry for the delay in responding. I have checked with a colleague who specializes in Transformers. He has confirmed that the Masterpiece Soundwave line will be sold in Australia through Toys-R-Us, but not until July 2013. They are expected to sell in Toys-R-Us from July to September. Kind regards, Hasbro Consumer Services

Griffin's Comments on Acid Storm

As mentioned in the Hasbro MP Soundwave topic (which is now confirmed to be coming out in mid-2013), I asked ToysRUs if any more Masterpiece toys are in their system, hoping it was Sideswipe.... but no, a different Masterpiece toy by Hasbro is coming to ToysRUs at the same time as Soundwave.....

Acid Storm.
A green Starscream redeco, to add to the Masterpiece seeker squadron.

Priced at AU$100, it is $20 more than Thundercracker... so could have a similar price increase in America.

Considering how many Masterpiece toys are coming out of Japan at the moment, I was not expecting Hasbro to release one that Japan hasn't done (yet).
Acid Storm was a classic-verse toy/character that didn't get released in Japan either, so maybe this MP toy is a Hasbro exclusive as well.

From what I have learned and heard he is supposedly coming with all 5 Cassettes too! I will definitely be getting the US release as well.....given that I can ever find him...I think he'll be harder to find than MP OP. I am wondering if he will be packaged in Robot mode or in Alt mode?

I have a custom Acid Storm using the new mold because I wanted to get a MP Sunstorm. I figured it would be neat to have the 8 seekers but the Rain maker seekers to use the new mold and the classic Seekers to have the old version. I still wish they would have released the MP Thundercracker using the older mold just for consistency measures. With the leg mod the older mold I still think is superior to the new one, but the new one is nice.

Yeah, it's nice Hasbronis bringing MPs here, but they REALLY need to get the quantities up. I never saw MP Prime in stores. Everytime someone posted on this site that he was back up for sale on the TRU site, I'd miss it. One day a friend of mine sent me a message via Face Book saying he was up for se and I jumped on it. That's ridiculous in my opinion. I hope SW will be easier to get a hold of, but I doubt it.

As far as the seekers go, I've never seen the old updated mold. My Starscream and Skywarp are the old molds with be hip kibble. My TC of course is the new mold and he is superior to the old mold, but I deal with it. I just wish someone sold the new head so I can swap the SS and SW heads.

I hear rumors Soundwave will be coming to the states.

Maybe they didnt want anything to come close to overshadowing Metroplex?

Lord Atmo 2013-02-14 @ 6:34 am

He was not shown nor mentioned at Toy Fair

This has me worried that he's not coming to the USA :(

Wonder if Soundwave's gonna get a yellow visor something..,

Good point. Hasbro's Soundwave is either going to be the same as Takara's, only with the yellow visor or in lighter, cartoon-like colors.
