Here, you guys should like this, all it needs is a drop of white paint. I have it and it's awesome with Cobra Commander!!!

(link)

It really only enforces my point though. If this was made to tack on to Transformers, it would probably be $10 minimum, and people would still order it. But since it's a generic upgrade gun 99cents.

So really, what is the cost vs screw factor that we keep playing into? Like I said, if we take a collective step back, these prices are gonna drop. If we don't were just gonna keep getting shafted with no one to blame but ourselves.

$120 for some plastic pannels and a small consol is to much

$60 for a miniSharckticon is to much

$65 to upgrade an upgrade is to much

$100 for a mini MP is highway robbery And I'm just not gonna play anymore. I went 25years without Teletran1 and got by just fine, so I don't see why I can't stretch that out a bit longer...

Ahh, I didn't take it personal at all. As a fellow EAGLES fan - i have very thick skin, and am use to far more abuse than anything i've seen on here. LOL This place is utter tranquility. :) As far as the IGear Teletran.....You make a very strong case.. when you look at MOLDS from other series (like the guns for less than a $1). And typically, smaller ones are harder to get good detail on, and they have descent detailing. Something like a Black Prime Gun - for $8.99 is 4x more than it should be. Especially when you consider it is a 3rd party gun and not an official Takara release or name branded MP (and thus going to maintain it's value). You are 100% right. I completely rescind that $110 is a 'slight' overpayment - it's a gross overpayment. I have to conceed that. I truly wish, I could buy it "WITHOUT" the problematic walls. In fact, I am beginning to wonder if the price will drop 'or' you could get it USED on ebay later, when someone else gets upset with the way the walls/floor do not fit well together.

Just cheked out your link....and i does raise the question " Why are we paying soooo much for these pieces?". It's not really justifiable. I understand that your paying for the name or at least in a third party case it's association with an established francshise but thats all the more reason to not gouge my wallet. They aren't official products and in reality are just molded pieces of plastic. i don't really know how labor intensive these products may be too produce and distribute but 80% of the time i feel they cost too much at retail level. If i actually knew how difficult/easy they are to produce, that would probably enable me to justify the cost of some of these items. but looking at Leige's link and seeing full weapon sets for a quarter and looking at something similar for Transformers being $20-40 or higher disenchants me a bit. I don't like getting ripped off.

I Can't believe this thing is 112 bucks ,or whatever, and CC Ultra Magnus was only 89 bucks. CC was money well spent. IMO

The only third party company that gets my full support is FansProject. I always feel like these other companies are jumping on their bandwagon and trying to take advantage of us.

I was only screwin with ya, so don't take it personaly.

Fact of the matter is, like you said TF items go for a premium, even when they are subpar pieces. Now a company and retailer can charge whatever they want. Some shops are fair like the $12 MP Roller, or $11 CC upgrade. Other companies just wanna keep banging us though, and they will so long as we keep enabling it.

You are right, this is the only way besides a print out to get a mock up of Teletran1. It's a poor Teletran1 though. As consumers we have to always remember that no matter what, we have the right to ask for better in terms of price and quality.

There's a general feel that we should be happy for what we get that gives these companies and stores permission to walk all over us. I disagree with that, and if more people would stop tossing dollar after dollar in the well, I bet the manufactures would feel the same way too. Explore that link I put up. It's all new crafted items for Star Wars and Joes. All detailed, origional pieces, most don't even sell for a buck.

I don't mean to excuse the shotty work. And if they sold the modules WITHOUT the walls and floors - i'd actually jump all over that. And that - would be $30-40. I was not looking at the cots from just a "what does it cost to make them" approach as much as what are things in the Transformers market going for. I also seriously doubt they sell enough of these things to get rich either. LOL It's a tad pricey - i agree - but there's not really another viable option out there, if you want this display replica. Truth be told, all the TFers are a bit overpriced for what they are.

Liege Evilmus - 2010-01-08 @ 7:22 am

Man, you are the soul of the new machine :mwahaha

That gun and Roller kit, I payed $20 shipped from an online retailer. $30+ especialy since I didn't have an MP-2 at the time and still don't have an MP-04 would have been insane.

Take that same set today which is broken up into two lots, a gun for $9 and a cart for $12 and that proves me right.

Now here's the thing about this set. IT'S MODULAR, so you can take the main parts, and fit them in a floor and wall situaion of your own design to suit your own particular display needs. However it can't hold itself together so whats the point?

Now you can justify the blatent screw price for at least the good parts, or you can keep in mind that it's readily avaible plastic which is so abundant that it's choking the Earth to death.

Lets ace it, this only cost that much cause they slapped a Transformers relation to it. The thing is mostly walls. Now granted this may be at a 3rd or so smaller scale per section

(link)

but if these guys can offer 20 pannels ready to take both vintage and newer figures for only $12, why the hell should we take such a beaten without een asking for some lube!?!

If you can afford to have it done easy, glue it together, slap it on your wall, forget about it in a week...

Me, I've drawn a line, and this aint crossing it. Get rich off someone else.

sgt__york - 2010-01-08 @ 6:57 am

Agreed, plastic would look better.

For $119 less shipping, you'd want it to hold up though.

So I will agree again that cardboard does have it's own charm too. I mean for the price of 2 sheets of photo quality paper (maybe 4), you can blow up Teletran 1 and have it repaired in no time :D

I wouldn't mind paying $30-$40 for the consoles, but for $120+ with walls that don't hold up, I just don't see the point :shrug

ahh.. $30-40 is realy cheap. Comeon a non-transforming roller & gun by itself cost about $29.95. I think it's worth the price "IF" it snapped together better. I still think it's worth $80 given how good it looks. So in my view, if I go thru with it - i'm likely overpaying $40 or so. To get one that looks this nice and the time saved in making one (as this isn't like a project i'd tackle) it's still worth it - BUT BARELY. If i can't get it to stay together with superglue or the like - I might raise a bit of a stink.

And I don't think carboard and the like would be nearly as nice - albeit it cheaper. The time to build an inferior one would be 'much' less than the time to glue it together.

My plan for the cardboard one is to make a whole cardboard ark around it that can transform into Omega Supreme, kind of like the Animated one. (Might be biting off more than I can chew...) I wouldn't be able to do that with the plastic one.

No offense at all.. but I cannot see a cardbox set looking nearly as good as molded plastic. Throw in the fact it needs to also 'transform' also? I just can't see it. But as long as your enjoying the project, who really cares? I hope it turns out incredible. I know i'd like to create a few mini-designs as well. I wanted to create the store front of an auto dealership and also a mountain-ish terrain (for the G1 dinobots and constructicons). I was planning on using plaster/molds, and some of the techniques they use to do train model sets. Might turn out great, might turn out like garbage - LOL - but hey, part of it is the learning and fun of doing it. I don't mean to discourage you at all. I hope you have a blast doing it.
