Review: Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Figure

As (technically) the 4th Masterpiece mold in the lineup, Rodimus was surely a welcome surprise. While the 1986 Hot Rod figure was overall liked, the Rodimus Prime figure from the same era was not. Almost 25yrs later, Takara provided the best of both worlds as they offered a Hot Rod that could also double as Rodimus Prime. US fans waited for news that it would come Stateside. They were half satisfied, as only Hot Rod would make it. However, to make up for not including the trailer an exclusive Targetmaster was included. So how does the Toys R Us exclusive pan out? This review attempts to find the answers!

Well-said, Goki! Took the words right outta me!I play with my MPs a lot too. They're called "toys" for a reason. No I don't beat the shit out of them or anything. What's the point of owning a figure just to stare at it Just look at the pictures if you're gonna do that...I transform my Roddy a lot. No problems beyond getting a few tabs to line up. It's FUN! Some of you guys really gotta relax and enjoy the figure for what he is: A great toy!"Have you transformed your MP Rodimus Prime today". My new slogan....

Now that I have one and transformed it over and over I like it. Especially since it was only $39.99 after my giftcard.AND IT'S ON SALE RIGHT NOW FROM WWW.TOYSRUS.COM SO HURRY!!

actually now that i've had time to fiddle with it more...i don't hate itgranted it does have some major flaws, but most of those are in the transformation.the chest clip and the back clip actually work great on mine and i've read quite a few problems with those two.the two leg flaps do flop around a bit, but i think that's mostly due to no defined pegging system in bot mode.alot of the joints on mine are almost scary tight. the double jointed arms almost made me cry trying to pose him holding up his targetmaster cause i thought i was going to break it.all in all, not a bad figure.......not a great figure mind you, but not a bad figure

I dunno if this has been mentioned yet or not, but having just got masterpiece roddy yesterday and fiddling with it the targetmaster does actually peg to his engine. just fold away the handle and use the...i guess it'd be the stock pegs in fine and actually has a lower profile which looks better than the gun with handle popping out of the hood IMHO.

My 8-year-old nephew tears the limbs off his TFs and other figures for "fun" and then wonders why it can't transform anymore.
