Transformers Siege Apeface, Singe, Crosshairs, And Micromasters At Christmas Toy Fair 2019

In Japan, yet another hobby show is underway, because it's a month with a vowel in its name. This time it's Christmas Toy Fair 2019, and there was a bit of Transformers on display. Dengeki Hobby has brought us coverage of the event, and while it does seem some Studio Series and Cyberverse items were out, what their reporter focused on was a few of the newer Siege toys shown off.

Apeface is the biggest thing covered, as it shows a copy of the toy in final plastic colors and deco. The news isn't all great there, as we can see the particular white plastic used for much of the body obscures the majority of sculpted detail especially under direct lighting. The seeming absence of good angles to take photos from also worked to the detriment of the vehicle mode, which has been proved extremely dependent on being seen from its good side and probably nowhere else.

Also on display were the Micromaster Battle Squad Direct-Hit and Power Punch, the Battlemaster Singe, and finally Crosshairs. The only one among them that seemed to show anything new was possibly Singe, which seems finally to be represented in its actual intended colors. On display at SDCC, it seemed to be largely silver, while the official renders had it as mostly black. This newest sample shows flat grey limbs and black torso, which is most likely what it's going to look like when released late this year or early next.

TakaraTomy has released the stock photos for its Transformers Siege products scheduled to ship to Japanese customers in late February of 2020. This wave will include Battlemaster Singe, Micromaster Battle Patrol (Direct-Hit and Power Punch), Deluxe Crosshairs, and Voyager Apeface.Careful use of studio lighting successfully downplays the detail-obscuring nature of the milky white plastic Apeface is now known to use, giving the toy a more favorable impression than the trade show photos we saw just recently.
