Recently we brought you information newly revealed about the future Transformers Siege product assortments
covering Deluxe and Voyager waves 3 and 4. We have a new development on that tonight, particularly concerning the Deluxe case loadouts.
Our original information indicated wave 3 would consist of Red Alert, two "mystery characters" that by process of elimination we could reasonably conclude were Brunt and Reflector/Refraktor, plus a reship of Hound from wave 1. From this we surmised that Reflector was likely to be packed 3 per case to facilitate a better chance of collectors being able to assemble the bonus camera mode, and that Hound would drop to 1 per case. It seems we might have been half right.
Entertainment Earth has since posted their own listing for the wave 3 case, and presents a slightly different lineup. Their breakdown specifies that both Red Alert and Reflector will be packed 3 per case, along with 2 Brunts. You may have noticed that adds up to 8 toys, and Hound is not among them, implying an error on one source. But with both sources being retailers who would be presenting officially provided data, it may be that both are correct.
Our best theory now is that one of these listings reflects a case assortment revision that adjusts the ratios. Based on one of them cycling in a previous-wave toy, we'd guess the Hound-inclusive assortment is the revision, which would follow some time after the initial shipments that contain just the brand new toys. The positive spin here being that there's an extended opportunity to obtain Reflectors and Brunts as this wave is likely to be in circulation in one or the other form for an extended period of time. The negative spin is that this wave can be expected to be in circulation for an extended period of time, which could see a lengthy gap between wave 3 and wave 4.
On the subject of wave 4, the new Entertainment Earth listing seems to back up our original conclusion about that assortment breakdown, showing 2 each of Impactor, Mirage, reshipped Sixgun, and "Secret" which should be Barricade. Unfortunately, the listing also backs up our belief that wave 3 may be expected to last a long while on shelves, as wave 4's expected arrival is not until October
. Wave 3 meanwhile is expected to arrive in July.
Hasbro may be taking measures to space out the assortments more evenly to prevent a repeat of Power of The Primes were virtually the entire line had hit stores by August, leaving no new product incoming on the Generations product codes for as much as 5 months in some cases. Wave 4 landing around October would give it a similar on-shelf lifespan to its preceding waves, while also allowing it to seamlessly transition the line to War For Cybertron Part 2: Electric Boogaloo.
As a quick post-script, it looks like revision cases may be afoot for the Voyager assortment too, as EE has a listing for Voyager wave 3 that contains 1 each of Springer and Thundercracker, where previously we'd heard that Springer would ship alongside a second showing of Starscream, with Thundercracker coming as wave 4 with a reshipped Megatron.
We'll bring you more information on this story as it develops.
