Transformers Siege Ultra Magnus In Hand Photos

Thanks to ChErikS, we have some out of package photos of Leader class Transformers Siege Ultra Magnus. It looks like the first trickle of Leader class is finally starting to arrive now, though we're still waiting for any coverage of Shockwave to turn up right now.

We've previously seen side by side shots of this Magnus alongside Siege Voyager Optimus, revealing they stay close in height even when Magnus is armored. But now we have comparisons with Combiner Wars Leader Ultra Magnus, and that really puts the size of the new figure in perspective. It's reported that the armor pieces can't form together without the cab robot. That seems obvious enough when it comes to the robot mode, but it wasn't clear if that meant in vehicle mode as well - essentially meaning the "trailer" builds around the cab in some way rather than comprising a distinct unit on its own.

This Magnus looks like it's destined for a retool and redeco as Optimus Prime a little bit later, a theory supported by multiple pieces of promotional art for IDW's rebooted Transformers comics depicting Optimus Prime with details distinct to the cab robot portion of Ultra Magnus. While it's impossible to rule out a leak in the meantime, this probable Leader class Optimus is probably due for a Toy Fair reveal, which might be enough to prompt some would-be Magnus buyers to wait and weigh their options.

Yeah, its a bit of a hike. However, BigBad Toy Store, TFsource and others have it on pre-order for $35 USD. Hopefully that makes it more attractive. If not that, consider this appears to be a rendition of one half of the original Car Robots Omega Prime. While it has not been announced, we can only hope. ?

I can't justify the $45 price tag on this small figure and it appears that we get another UM with a useless trailer. The entire purpose of a trailer is to haul other cars. Does Hasbro even do any market research on kids?
