At IDW Publishing's San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Transformations Panel, it was announced that, after a large force of fans spoke out, Transformers #81 would be coming in Spring 2012.
"[T]he original Marvel Transformers comic series (cancelled back in 1991 at issue #80) is being continued by IDW Publishing," Simon Furman writes on his blog, "thanks in large part to an online fan petition (big shouts for Luke and Ron of the IDW forums) and the tireless efforts of IDW [Editor In Chief] Chris Ryall."
The extremely-long hiatus will run from issues 81 to 100 and these books will be "pulling together and tying up every dangling plotline you can think of and a whole lot you can’t!" Mr. Furman explains.
He remains coy on what he means and will not divulge any information "Nada. Niente. Zilch." Along with his counterpart, artist Andrew Wildman, information about the series is being kept tightly under wraps.
"But it is going to shatter your trousers!" Mr. Furman claims. "Guaranteed!"
