The 411 on Transformers Alternity!

Japanese on-line retailer BO-YA has placed product listings with descriptions for TakaraTomy's Transformers Alternity Nissan GT-R Convoy Vibrant Red and Ultimate Silver.

The listings confirm this figure is part of a new series that will be a smaller 1/32 scale model with an auto-transformation mechanism and contain die-cast parts just like the 1/24 scale Binaltech series.

The red color scheme is a homage to Convoy while the silver color scheme is for respects to the car model itself.

Both will be released in Japan in November 2008 retailing at 4,500 Yen (approximately $42 USD).

If Hasbro released him with a Datsun brothers head he'd be the hardest figure to find since Concept Bumblebee...

If they made this guy into Prowl I'd preorder him in a second, especially since I don't plan on getting Universe Prowl (the G1-style deco is too plain; I'll be getting the Bluestreak version instead.)

I really like that this new line is going to be 1:32 scale. They'll look a lot better alongside the rest of my collection, since they're essentially deluxe-sized.

As I've said before, the mold looks nice but it's utterly wrong for Prime. I hope the line continues and they bring it over to NA in a cheaper, all-plastic form (but keeping the rubber tires) but I won't be buying this figure myself. If they retool him into another character that makes more sense with this altmode I'll be all over him, though.

Anyhow, I hope Hasbro'll slip this and any other new molds related to it under the Universe banner.

This may be possible, they did say at one point they were considering licensed vehicles for the Universe line.

I actually have the feeling that the design isn't as complicated as it looks at first glance, especially now knowing that the rear seats are his feets. I'm betting it's about the same level of complexity as Concept Camaro movie 'Bee.

I think it is because it is a good idea and good toy. But the complaining is because it is Prime.

I'm actually not "complaining" about it being Prime.

More that anyone expecting this to be the next "Generation One Redux" may have to reconsider that viewpoint...

Indeed, it's more a Gobot redux. :tflaugh http://www.tfu.info/1995/Autobot/OptimusPr...ptimusprime.htm

(and Megatron would work as a silver car; http://www.tfu.info/1995/Decepticon/Megatron/megatron.htm sorta. )

Anyhow, I hope Hasbro'll slip this and any other new molds related to it under the Universe banner.

Definately not worth the $50 price tag. These alternity might be the resurrection of alternators.
not if they are one new fig every 3 months like BT

From the schedule posted in the other thread, it looks like they're reserving three months to market this guy - I'm still not convinced that this isn't just a one-off, but it could be part of a slow roll out to see if the concept has viability (although, my impression is that BT started pretty strong before fizzling out...).

Instead of people whining about the car or that it's Prime, they should be more worried about it being diecast and overseas only. Or that the line is called "Alternity."

truthiest comment in thread :tflaugh

sounds like cologne

These may end up wowing me, but I'm not all that thrilled with the size:price ratio. The DIECASTZOMG factor isn't enough to warrant the price premium in my eyes.

I'm just glad BBTS has their no-hassle cancel policy.
