Topic of the Week: What Did You Think of the Transformers Prime Season 2 Finale?

The Transformers Prime Season 2 Finale, "Darkest Hour," has come and gone leaving the fans hanging until Season 3 picks up. That said, I have been reading comments online and I see a lot of mixed feelings about the show. Some liked it, some didn't, and many said they didn't expect what happened. Transformers Prime has been a strange ride. in many ways, it is the cartoon that has everything we could have hoped for. Yet, it has not gained the kind of adoration that shows like Animated and others have. What are your thoughts on the Finale, Season 2, and the Prime series overall?

Fatherdeth- The cliffhanger in itself with the base being destroyed is indeed on its own, awesome.

But the way in which it was achieved was awful. It reminds me a little of the season 5 episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In this episode Captain Sisko is faced with a Dominion attack on the station. One which he could not win. But he did put up a fight before evacuating. It was not the grandiose fight like in Way Of The Warrior were a lot of Klingon ships bought the farm but still.

What the writers should have done is to have Starscream threaten to destroy the whole town of Jasper. Then there was nothing the Autobots could have done, not with the star saber, immobiliser of anything so they would have had to surrender.

They give up their weapons and Megatron immediately destroys them or bridges them to parts unknown.

The next part would be like the actual episode, Optimus destroys the Omega Lock and the battle moves to Earth. Ratchet whom is extremely dismayed with Optimus sacrificing Cybertron for no reason decided to send out a general message to all remaining Autobots before team Prime returns. There the Autobots all back Prime enfuriating Ratchet further.

This message allows the Decepticons to frag the base so does end up dust but not before a MASSIVE fight. Bulkhead clobbers Megatron, ripping off his face forcing Megatron to wear a mask from now on and causing an intense hatred and most of Megatron's Vehicons end up scrap.

But eveunally the battle is lost and so Optimus asks Ratchet to groundbridge them to safety. He does, but he does bridge them all to different locations leaving them vunerable. He

then joins Wheeljack before setting the auto destruct and destroying the base.

Then the next season of Beast Hunters will involve the Beast Hunters, a team of elite Autobots dedicated to bringing Autobot traitors to justice. Similar to the Decepticon Justice Division in the IDW comics.

Their main target: Optimus Prime whom has to die for betraying and destroying Cybertron. It is important to note that these are Autobots and they do protect innocent life as best as they can but they do not feel bad about a little "collateral damage". I mean, it is war and all.

Wheeljack feels the same way becuase as a Wrecker he knows sacrifice is part of being a soldier so he joins them and asks if he can be the one to hunt down Bulkhead so he can bring in his friend an honerable way. Much like in the Spartacus series when Gannicus returns to kill Oenomaus in the arena. Allthough only Optimus is marked for execution. his team is to be put on trial.

That would make for an impressive third seasin and redemption for this series.

WoW!!! That's very good. Very descriptive and would be very interesting. Too bad Hasbro has crummy writers.

Glad you like it. Thanks.

I don't like the thought of autobots hunting down other autobots... they do make it look like ratchet will be turn sides.

Prime could always make a new omega lock and keys with the forge... with some time.

It was explained in the penultimate episode that no, Prime could not use the Forge of Solus Prime to create new keys, let alone reconstruct the Omega Lock

For everyone thinking Prime is buried alive ... I kinda have another theory (purely speculative!) but what if Prime either created a fake arm with the Forge of Solus or cut his own arm off as a decoy to throw Megatron off and ducked through the Bridge at the last second. Afterall he was standing right next to the controls before the explosion, and he had the Star Saber in his hand. I dunno ... Just a thought!

Very enjoyable and the surprise of Wheeljack just appearing out of no where was awesome!!! Although they kill these characters off with no remorse, hopefully he survived. I didn't mind the final episode over all.

Now, as for Prime as a whole. When the show first started, I didn't even watch it. The whole idea of Unicron inside of Earth I though was stupid. One day, I bought the Wheeljack toy because I thought it looked cool and when I saw how awesome the figure was, I got season one and watched it. I got hooked. So, I've been following the show just as hard as I follow Sons of Anarchy!!!

Key things I didn't or don't like. Dreadwing dying. I really liked him being a Decepticon with a sense of honor. I know why they did it, but he was just a cool character to me. The kids can be annoying, especially Raph. I hated the fact they brought in Nemesis Prime for one episode. They should have transferred Silas into Nemesis instead of Breakdown. I also hate all the downtime Wheeljack had. Those are really my only gripes. Here's hoping next season picks up and the writers can salvage the final episode; however, for a season finale, it was a very good cliff hanger you have to admit.

SureShot - 2012-11-07 @ 7:48 pm

A few things didn't make sense in the last episode. Why didn't Bulkhead just immobilize everyone and take the kids. Why did they hand over the relics when all they wanted were the keys. Why didn't ratchet ground bridge the kids there. Why didn't Optimus remove the keys (or just one) from the Omega Lock. Why didn't optimus disable the decepticons ship with the sword.

I didn't like that Prime is in rubble... There could have been ways to take out the bridge without staying there... hope they hid the Forge of Solus Prime well.

Lots I didn't like about it... but hands down, the TF Prime cartoon has been the most enjoyable one as it's the only one that I have stuck with watching every episode.

It will not be much of a hunt I suppose.

I mean, the Autobots did not even TRY to defend their base, despite a 2 to 1 advantage! Only Wheeljack and Fowler put up a fight. That guy has balls of steel.

The first episode will probably start with Megatron finding Optimus amongst the rubble just as he is about to send the hunters to finish the Autobots off. As Optimus' broken body crawls towards him, Megatron looks at him with pity and finishes him off. "Such heroic nonsense."

Bubbah - 2012-11-07 @ 1:52 am

I honestly thought it wasn't too bad. The episodes leading up to this episode were a lot better, it almost seemed like they tried to fit 2 episodes into 1. Overall though, I thought it was pretty good and now the Beast Hunters title makes perfect sense. Shockwave is going to introduce the beasts as hunters of the Autobots, whereas initially I thought the 'Bots would be hunting the beasts. I'm really curious to see what happens between Ratchet and Optimus now though, because obviously Ratchet has flat called out Prime over his actions. Loved the look of the new silver air Vehicon Generals though. The buildup of the episode was better than the episode itself, but I didn't think it was bad (yes I know there were holes, and cop outs, but those are part of any series).
