
An article from the New Jersey newspaper The Times spotlighting "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" at Princeton University has revealed some plot tidbits regarding the film.
First of all, to answer how Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) could be enrolled in an Ivy League-type university, she has not. She could not afford it.
However, Sam Witwicky, Shia LaBeouf's character in the film, has enrolled in a fictional university on the East Coast. The article notes that the university has an Ivy League-feel, but is not Princeton University, or University of Pennsylvania, which have been locations used for filming.
The way that Mikaela and Sam get together in the film is that she comes and visits him at school.
Of course, their reunion is interrupted by an unknown menace, which was filmed in Princeton's Dillon Gymnasium.

The plot point is very important in Sam's character, as it is "all about Sam growing up and going to college...a teenager growing into a man," Director Michael Bay told The Times.
