We are in the first week into the year 2012 and you know what that means - the end-of-the-year stuff has become official.
So with that, it has become officially official that Paramount Pictures is the top-grossing studio Worldwide thanks to Transformers Dark of the Moon's $1.12 billion gross around the globe.
That puts the film only behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 for the year, and fourth in all-time films when not adjusted for inflation.
Warner Bros. was the second top-grossing studio of the year despite Harry Potter's strong showing.
Now, what about that second part of the headline?
This past weekend was the Rose Bowl Parade, a yearly celebration of the Rose Bowl college football game that pits the winner of the Big Ten and PAC-12 (formerly PAC-10) conferences against one another (we will not touch the Bowl Champion Series [BCS]).
As the game takes place yearly in Pasadena, CA, basically in Paramount's backyard, they threw together a float, and this year, it unsurprisingly (given what you know now) had Bumblebee from the Transformers live action movie universe along with another iconic franchise from the studio, Star Trek.
Check out videos of the telecast and a close-up of the float embedded below.
So for those of you who do not like the idea of another Transformers live action film, better get a mouth guard to protect those teeth from all the grinding. With this celebration and the gross, Paramount Pictures is most likely gunning for a fourth, fifth, or even sixth film.
While Hasbro, Inc. did not make as much money on the toyline as they did on Transformers and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, they will most likely be interested in getting money anyway they can.
