Unicron #0 Spoilers - The Origin Of The Spaceknights

Bleeding Cool's Rich Johnston has posted some SPOILERS for Unicron #0, the Free Comic Book Day issue intended to kick off the universe-concluding event for IDW's Transformers/shared Hasbro universe. The excerpt concerns the origins of the Spaceknights and their armor, and how it all serves to closer tie together the already closely-aligned IDW comics. Keep reading only if you want part of Unicron #0 spoiled for you!

The upcoming Free Comic Book Day Unicron #0 issue, available on the 5th of May, will kickstart the series as the Transformers deal with Unicron’s arrival at… the planet of Elonia.

The home planet of Rom, the Space Knight – the previous origin planet Galador was owned by Marvel Comics – Unicron has come to eat it up. Necessitating the involvement of Transformers. But why Elonia?

Because Elonia is one of the thirteen lost colonies of Cybertron. And the crystalline armour of the Space Knights is revealed to be from the buried body of an ancient Transformer… and now fit to be eaten by Unicron…

Given how much of IDW's other Hasbro books tie back to Transformers already, this isn't much of a surprise. In fact, ROM was probably the only property thus far without an explicit tie to the history of Cybertron, so this helps tidy everything up in time for the end.

Unicron will conclude IDW's original Transformers continuity, to be replaced with...?
