Unite Warriors UW-06 Grand Galvatron TakaraTomy Galvatronus Revealed
ExVee - Monday, December 07, 2015

After an unintentional tease recently, we now have a much better look at TakaraTomy's go at Galvatronus through TakaraTomy Mall. Officially called Grand Galvatron, this set features dead or otherwise lost sparks from across the multiverse of Transformers brought together to become an embodiment of Galvatron's spirit. This set is a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive with preorders being accepted from now until January 7th, with delivery planned for the end of April at a cost of 16,200 Yen. Keep reading for pictures and more information!

The component characters include a strongly G1 cartoon decoed Cyclonus, Ghost Starscream featuring a lot of clear plastic sure to make everyone wince with every transformation and featuring the previously unseen Seeker-style head hinted at by Designer Desk material, Curse Armada Thrust featuring a new conehead-style alternate head sculpt, Zombie War Breakdown based on the Transformers Prime character, and Wandering Roller, based on the IDW comics character. Breakdown and Roller do not feature any new parts.

As suspected, Cyclonus's deco is constructed to allow the toy to change its primary visible color in torso mode to reflect a toy accurate grey Galvatron. The weapons have also been cast in clear orange to emulate Galvatron's cannon, with lots of paint to make up opaque parts like the "shield". Ultimately this has turned out to be a very interesting set, with Roller especially being a complete left field surprise inclusion even after fans had largely worked out who the other three limbs represented.

Incidentally, the Grand Galvatron name is inspired by the Headmasters series, specifically Galvatron's plot to scrap the bodies of his Decepticons and, along with material from Earth, build them in to a powerful Unicron-like planet-size body for himself. While we do not believe at this time these toys will combine with the Earth itself, it's a very fitting name reuse otherwise!

Hasbro's people said during Toy Fair they have exclusives planned for Generations for this year, though they didn't reveal any specifics. Blast Off and Repugnus had both been discovered via leaked materials and distributor information, but it looks like at least one more figure may be joining their Special Edition ranks this year. Amazon.ca has a listing page for Deluxe Counterpunch, and while the currently attached price and some of the product info are a bit wacky, the associated product code makes sense compared to Repugnus and Blast Off. So what could we be looking at? Keep reading for another round of speculation!

During Toy Fair this year, the Hasbro team gave the invited fan media representatives a special treat, in the first reveal of what the next instance of Transformers Generations would be. Power of The Primes is wrapping up in 2018, and with it comes the conclusion to what Hasbro referred to as the Prime Wars Trilogy. Part of the meaning of this is that 2019 will be the beginning of something completely new, a point they made very clear despite having few real details they could share. But something about the way they talked about it concerned me and got me thinking. The following is a speculative post, so if you'd like to join me on a journey of theorizing the future, please click through and continue reading!
