Stryker Wang is on site where setup is happening right now for Wonderfest Winter 2020 in Japan, and he's shared out the first photos of two brand new Masterpieces which we'll be seeing plenty more of over the course of this weekend. Spoilers: It's almost certainly not what you've been expecting.
MP-50, which for quite some time has been the subject of speculation over what character might be given such an important-sounding number turns out to be... Tigatron! Yes, MP-50 is a Beast Wars Masterpiece, fulfilling an expectation many have had since Cheetor was announced. We can't see any details, but if TakaraTomy is concerned with correct accuracy and scaling, Tigatron shouldn't just be a retool of Cheetor, as Tigatron was somewhat larger in the cartoon. But they can share virtually identical engineering.
Meanwhile on the other side of the line, MP-51 is none other than Arcee! This one comes entirely out of left field, and looks to contribute to making 2020 The Year of Arcee, with a Cyberverse Deluxe, Earthrise Deluxe, and now a full-on Masterpiece to be released presumably within the same year. Oh, and don't get too excited about what else you might see in the G1 Masterpiece case there - TakaraTomy appears to have used a Generations Blurr and Springer to fill out the "2010" Autobot cast for the display. Masterpieces for those two will have to wait for a while still.
For our first reveals out of Wonderfest this year, this has been a high bar to start with. We'll be tracking more developments from the show over the weekend, so keep watching here for the latest!
Stryker Wang has shared a few more images from Wonderfest, setting up right now for the public exhibits that will happen starting Sunday morning, Japan time. Following up from the first glimpse of the next two Masterpieces, we have much better looks at them from what seems to be a TakaraTomy product flyer from the event.
