Dengeki Hobby has posted their coverage of TakaraTomy's exhibit at Summer Wonderfest, including a good look at the Transformers products on display! Some notable highlights, besides the Seacons
are samples of Siege Spinister, Rung, Rumble (the red one) and Ratbat all in full plastic colors. The samples seen previously at SDCC were testshots that had been hand painted to reflect their intended decos.
The good news is Spinister is still looking mighty vibrant
in what should be its final production colors. And while Rung doesn't seem to be showing its sculpt details quite as strongly now, that, Ratbat, and Rumble all look very close to how they did at SDCC. We've also got a new detail visible now, where Rumble has pegs sticking out from his fists to attach blast effects to. So piledrivers may not be included, but you can have him throwing energy beams from his hands or even punching explosions depending what sort of fireblast accessories you have hanging around.
Dengeki's reporters got some additional angles on the Seacons, though sadly there wasn't a good photo of Tentakil posted to help identify its underlying mold - however, the community has been working on that problem and it seems likely Tentakil is a significant retool of POTP Moonracer.
There's a lot of various Convoy and Prime merchandise being shown. The Legendary Nemesis Prime redeco of the Japanese-exclusive Bumblebee Movie Leader-size Evasion Mode Optimus was out alongside samples from the special release versions of reissue G1 Prime/Convoy and Studio Series 38 Optimus Prime in retro G1 styled packaging. An Encore Big Convoy was shown for the first time with a new Matrix Buster accessory and figurine of Navi. Plus, the contents of TV-kun's Supreme Commander Convoy box were also displayed, featuring the reproduction STARS base and golden "trophy" Convoy. Finally, Masterpiece Lio Convoy was out with a selection of other Beast Wars Masterpieces.
A small amount of Cyberverse product was shown, including a Megatron, Wheeljack, and Grimlock. TakaraTomy also had their movie scene dioramas out on display, focused on scenes from the Bumblebee Movie.
Finally, of course, the Unicron prototypes were on display. We learned during the course of SDCC that currently there's only one Unicron prototype that actually transforms, with all of the others being designed and built only as either a robot or planet model to demonstrate what the final product is planned to look like. At Wonderfest, we believe they have the actual transforming prototype on hand, which is the very low-detail planet mode copy seen in the photos. There's also a full primer-grey high detail robot mode prototype on hand, plus some promo imagery. One of the promo images recreates the classic Transformers The Movie poster with Unicron's planet mode looming in Cybertron's sky.
There's still a little time left for Wonderfest today, but it doesn't seem like we're going to learn about when the Seacons will start being released, and perhaps even more regrettably, we still haven't heard anything at all about the new Armada Optimus Prime figure that was shown in prototype form at Winter
Wonderfest back in February! We'll apparently just have to keep on waiting and hoping for an announcement...
UPDATE: Thanks to DragonX76, We have added some of new images showing other angles on the Seacons, Big Convoy, MP-44 Conoy and others.
