As you may know, the just-revealed Star Convoy figure, believed to be an LG-EX release, is a remold of Power of the Primes Leader class Optimus Prime. That figure sports a "Mortal To Prime" gimmick, where a Deluxe-sized Orion Pax figure merges with the trailer to become a very large Optimus Prime.
Naturally there's been a lot of speculation on what Star Convoy's inner robot will be. But this morning, a small image posted by Twitter user @sendai9130 has given us an interesting answer.

See that tiny wedge nose? The long, rectangular optics? The little vents on the side of the faceplate?
Star Convoy's inner robot is none other than Optimus Prime. But not just any Optimus Prime, but an Optimus Prime whose face at the very least is patterned after the original G1 toy. We're not actually sure if anyone has ever done that before! This could well be the first new action figure mold to use this head design since 1983, when Takara created the Diaclone Battle Convoy. That's exciting!
