MP-25 Masterpiece Tracks With Toy-Style Faceplate - But What Does It Mean?
RAC - Friday, February 12, 2016
Maz of TFSquareOne has posted photos sent to him of a test shot of MP-25 Tracks. This in and of itself isn't too noteworthy - except that it has a new head with an unproduced toy-style faceplate! What does it mean? Is this toy of the unproduced past or the yet to be produced future? Well, Maz has a few ideas about that - keep reading for an excerpt from his post, photos, and a link to the full article!
The owner of the prototype who wishes to stay anonymous has said "it does have the toy style face. The faceplate/eyes/headcrest is one removable piece". A removable piece. These days, Masterpiece heads are not so easy to get into, some of them are glued, and certainly MP-25 and MP-26 don't have removable faces although the seams appear to be there, so does that actually lend more credence to the notion that a switchable battle mask face for the Tracks/Road Rage mould was an early concept that was later abandoned? Or, would a plastic test shot that comes well after the grey prototype phase of a toy's life be evidence that the battle mask concept for MP Tracks is something more recent and indicative of an upcoming release?
Weibo user 北马伊斯力 also shared images from Transformers Generations 2018 of the upcoming MP-39 Sunstreaker! We get a good look at the figure's transformation, as well as option parts for the chest to make the windows more accurately represent either the animation model or the vehicle mode, as well as various design illustrations done for the figure. Weibo user 北马伊斯力 has posted a string of images pertaining to MP-41 Dinobot! While the shots are all of the grayscale model, we get a solid look at the figure's transformation as well as some great closeups of its alternate faces. There's also a (Japanese) interview with numerous images of sketches and other design documents for the figure as well! Keep reading to see.
This week on Radio Free Cybertron: A whole lot of official images of MP-41 Dinobot came out. How do we feel about how it looks? (Hint: The bot mode looks great. Dino mode maybe not so much). Titans Return came out this week. What lessons, if any, did the the creators learn from Combiner Wars? And you will not believe who made it into the Toy Hall of Fame ahead of Transformers. I'd tell you to write down your guess, but then you'd already know the answer. All that and more on this episode of RFC!
The full barrage of Masterpiece Dinobot publicity is underway, and TakaraTomy has struck on two fronts! First a promo video has gone up on Youtube, giving some new angles and details on the upcoming Masterpiece, as well as showing the figure alongside select sequences from the Beast Wars cartoon. TakaraTomy's official site has also added the product page, and while many photos there are the ones we've seen already, we get some value out of the 360-view slides that offer the all-important view of the robot's back, plus other areas of interest. There's a lot to check out, and you can find screencaps and mirrored photos for it all below!
Just a short while after we got a first tease of Masterpiece Dinobot's robot mode, the dam has burst and we have all the (initial) stock photography for MP-41! Most importantly, this has size reference images showing an impressive scale alongside Optimus Primal and Cheetor. But beyond that, we have an accessory layout and various pose and detail shots of the figure. And while some clue can be derived for the most basic of transformation processes, much still remains delightfully mysterious! SPOILER: the body turns inside-out between modes! Keep reading to see all the lovely images!
