Hasbro Masterpiece Soundwave and Acid Strom Coming July 2013

By Jack on Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Thanks to OzFormers member Ultra Mackness and griffinwho has managed to get a little time with Hasbro's Austrialian representives who informed them Hasbo down-under are planning to release both a Masterpiece Soundwave as well as a Masterpiece Acid Strom that we assume will be a Seeker repaint. These figures are said to be be in stores around July of this year. Read on for the full details from OZformers below.

Ultra Mackness's Comments on Soundwave
Okay so to help me make a decision about whether I give Takara my cash for MP Soundwave, I decided to email Hasbro about whether there will be a Hasbro release of MPSW or not and just got this reply:

Hi Michael, I am sorry for the delay in responding. I have checked with a colleague who specializes in Transformers. He has confirmed that the Masterpiece Soundwave line will be sold in Australia through Toys-R-Us, but not until July 2013. They are expected to sell in Toys-R-Us from July to September. Kind regards, Hasbro Consumer Services

Griffin's Comments on Acid Storm
As mentioned in the Hasbro MP Soundwave topic (which is now confirmed to be coming out in mid-2013), I asked ToysRUs if any more Masterpiece toys are in their system, hoping it was Sideswipe.... but no, a different Masterpiece toy by Hasbro is coming to ToysRUs at the same time as Soundwave.....

Acid Storm.
A green Starscream redeco, to add to the Masterpiece seeker squadron.

Priced at AU$100, it is $20 more than Thundercracker... so could have a similar price increase in America.

Considering how many Masterpiece toys are coming out of Japan at the moment, I was not expecting Hasbro to release one that Japan hasn't done (yet).
Acid Storm was a classic-verse toy/character that didn't get released in Japan either, so maybe this MP toy is a Hasbro exclusive as well.

Yeah, it's nice Hasbronis bringing MPs here, but they REALLY need to get the quantities up. I never saw MP Prime in stores. Everytime someone posted on this site that he was back up for sale on the TRU site, I'd miss it. One day a friend of mine sent me a message via Face Book saying he was... read more

From what I have learned and heard he is supposedly coming with all 5 Cassettes too! I will definitely be getting the US release as well.....given that I can ever find him...I think he'll be harder to find than MP OP. I am wondering if he will be packaged in Robot mode or in Alt mode? I h... read more

Good point. Hasbro's Soundwave is either going to be the same as Takara's, only with the yellow visor or in lighter, cartoon-like colors.

It's been... what, maybe a couple weeks now? Which means it's time for another Japanese toy show. Today, courtesy of TAG Hobby, we've got new shots of Kotobukiya's upcoming D-Style model kits of Starscream, Skywarp, & Thundercracker, and they look pretty good! While Skywarp and Thundercracker are running in terror at the sight of Megatron, Starscream seems to have skipped straight to the dry heaves. Keep reading to see the images!
Multiple outlets have reported that Herb Trimpe, the first artist to draw Wolverine and GI Joe, has passed away suddenly at the age of 75. As an artist for Marvel Comics, Trimpe drew a handful of issues of the G1 Transformers comic, as well as GI Joe vs The Transformers and the covers to the Transformers Universe miniseries. By all accounts he was a much loved and respected comics artist and human being, and will be missed. More details on Mr. Trimpe's career after the jump.
At East Coast Comic Con this past weekend, Marvel Comics inker Dave Hunt had a selection of his work on display, and included among these pages are parts of an unpublished adaptation of the season three cartoon episode Dweller In The Depths. Reportedly issues like this were prepared as backups in case the normal monthly storylines weren't turned in on time. Only a few pages survive to today, but Roboplastic Apocalypse was able to take photos, which were posted to their Facebook page. Click through, and have a look!
Optimus Prime! Transforms from tractor trailer to robot with headquarters and back. That’s the whole point of Transformers, figures that can be converted between modes. While the process of going between configurations is an important one, we can often attach more importance to factors such as appearance, scale, accessories, aesthetics, posability and the like. But this week, I will be listing my personal top 5 transformation sequences across all the official Hasbro and Takara Tomy Transformers toys that I have had the pleasure of experiencing.
