The Official Transformers Trading Card Game Facebook page has announced that organized play is coming to the game!
The first event as part of the new program will be an Open tournament at Origins Game Fair 2019, where entry is available to anyone who puts up the $26 USD entry fee. Prizes include Siege booster boxes, passes to PAX Unplugged, and plain old cash!
After that, organized play will commence at participating comic and game stores with limited gold-foil versions of Bumblebee, Flamewar, and Private Red Alert available, along with a Private Smashdown character card as a participation prize. A second Open will then happen at Gen Con for cash prizes.
Then, at PAX Unplugged, the top players from the Open tournaments and local store championships will convene for the Energon Invitational. At stake there are cash, Siege action figures, and the opportunity to design a character card with the Transformers TCG design team!
In announcing all this, it was also revealed that "sideboard" rules are being introduced, allowing players to bring a small pool of extra cards in order to allow players to fine-tune their decks in the middle of a match. While explaining these rules, WotC introduced two new Battle Cards from the Siege series, Point-Defense System and W-5 Gyro Blaster.
